As many in our Australian-side industry have been noting, earlier this week on Tue 13th Feb 2024, Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) advised of a 'Significant Power System Event' event centered on Victoria (Melbourne) initiated by transmission system failure, massive loss of load, and generator tripping issues at a coal fired #power station. (our good friend Paul McArdle of WattClarity from Global-Roam detailed here: https://lnkd.in/gPpujx_9) PLUS, it just so happens that our Systems Engineer Joshua Dangerfield was running an internal Lunch & Learn on one of our recent BESS projects with Next Generation Electrical where this very feature was needed. This meant Grid frequency dropped to 49.689 Hz, an excursion below the 49.85 Hz lowest in the normal operating band lasted a whopping ~8 minutes. (to make sense of why this matters, our other good friend Marija Petkovic recently explained in plain language - https://lnkd.in/gynm_kfC) In support of this major event, all of our AZZO EnergyX® Control kits which run over both C&I and Utility #BESS systems across the NEM were working their little hearts out capturing the super high speed pre/event/post traces of the kW/Hz power responses and then automatically generating the very fast/fast/slow/delayed MASS Compliance reports and #FCAS raise data sets for use in AEMO's verification tool, which we fully anticipate will be requested. The M-ERA.NET consortium has met to discuss the preparation of the upcoming Call 2025, including the thematic priorities. A detailed work programme will be elaborated until early 2025 in cooperation 🤝 with representatives of the research community. A third-party analysis of eight Grid Innovation Fund projects showed that these projects delivered technological solutions that have the potential to modernize the electricity system, improve energy efficiency and help Ontario move toward a decarbonized grid. Some projects that were evaluated, include: a carbon-free micro-grid at a secondary school, an online tool that would allow developers to browse and compare energy models from across hundreds of buildings and research into various emerging technologies, including storage, heat-pumps and the benefits of electrified public transit networks The report also underscores the importance of having the appropriate policy and regulatory support in place to support the wide-scale adoption of emerging technologies. 💢 We are excited to share our participation in the kick-off meeting of the ECLIPSE Project, hosted by ETRA on September 25 & 26, 2024, in Valencia, Spain. The ECLIPSE project aims to implement and demonstrate the Common European Reference Framework (CERF) for #energy #consumer #applications across the EU. Our goal is to enable voluntary energy consumption reductions and load shifting through recommendations, strategies, and incentives, promoting sustainable energy consumption behavior and empowering final consumers. The project will be deployed and demonstrated in 16 EU countries, with potential replication across the entire European Union. UBITECH ENERGY will lead the preparation, coordination, and monitoring of deployment and demonstration activities. We will guide and monitor these activities, ensuring the timely implementation of CERF based on requirements and use cases, while facilitating know-how exchange across pilot sites and actively involving stakeholders.
