I really capital is a family office and we're located with many, many families, multifamily offices around the world and we invest in various verticals like medical agritech. We doing a lot of academic activities, innovation and capital activities. So I joined a couple of months back and they're very excited. What's the difference between VC, the operations, the fundraising and everything how everything that distribution of funds and multifamily. So multifamily first of all, it's a whole different breed. Of animal to a VC, the money actually come from wealthy individuals and families that decision making is a little different. We have a lot of partners that actually decide together how to invest. And so it's a whole different decision process than a VC because a VC has very strict LP and GP activities where multi families are just like a different kind of decision making process.

Building a successful VC firm goes beyond a great investment thesis.
Here are two aspects to consider:
1/ Strategy & positioning vs. Fund size vs. LP types.
What niche are you targeting?
How are you unique?
What types of deals excite you?
What stage do you invest in?
Who are the ideal investors for your fund?
What check sizes do they typically write?
Know the answer to these questions inside out.
2/ Take time to build LP relationships.
Building trust with LPs is an investment in itself.
Do it consistently.
LPs talk.
Build a good reputation.
Positive experiences from others can open doors.

Is the reign of bank-financing loosening its grip? Private funds and family offices are taking up more & more space in an area previously dominated by traditional capital.
The Venture Capital sector has seen immense growth over the last decade, as a result we’re seeing an increase in non-traditional VC players entering the market. What does non-traditional look like? Family Offices are definitely making their mark, both by investing into VC funds and the Family Offices essentially becoming VC funds themselves via their own investment teams.

When I speak with Investors, they tell me there are 2 biggest reasons why startups fail at the first contact.
1. As mentioned below - wrong match. Reinder Lubbers not only highlights this in his post, but also offers a map of Benelux investors that can help you target better, and increase your chances of a meeting.
2. Too much information. A long email and a 27 slide attachment simply don't get read. The advice from investors I've spoken with?
Instead, send a 5-sentence email (info in the comments) and a summary slide deck or one pager that the investor can scan in 2 minutes.
