A 2022 publication from The Center for Higher Education Policy and Practice identified housing, food, and transportation as the greatest basic needs challenges for learners. This paper examines whether The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund significantly impacted learner persistence among a sample of learners from the initial population of HEERF recipients at Southern New Hampshire University. Key findings include evidence that unmet basic needs negatively impact learning outcomes and that emergency grants contribute to academic persistence. https://ow.ly/vjba50QksWF
