Interesting article on active “rest and relaxation (R&R)” and its ability to help us recover from the daily grind. Though I can certainly appreciate (and sometimes need) a little passive R&R, I found myself being even more relaxed after accomplishing a few micro goals this holiday season. How about you?

In ~46 days we will be halfway through 2024. Have you remembered to live?... See quote below: “We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh, Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life If this weekend said anything it was that summer isn’t around the corner, it is here. There’s something about the sudden change in season that makes you remember that time certainly is passing. And if you’ve been working relentlessly since September, maybe a season of repose is warranted. It is never too late to create a list of things you would like to accomplish this year. Other than work, subjects include: family, friends, fun, travel, Physical Health, Philanthropy, etc. Sign up for a race. Make time for family. Volunteer on a weekend. Travel and go surfing. Schedule more time off! See below an interesting table summarizing Paid vacation days and stat holidays for 21 richest countries (from 2021SOURCE.). A hint that North American culture is possibly off-balance. #timeoff #vacation #summer #summer2024 #propertymanagement #commercialpropertymanagement #commercialrealestate #surreybc

Musings from the slopes of queenstown... ... Admittedly this is a straw poll, but entrepreneurs (who are successful enough to take their families on holiday) are happier and more relaxed than employees. For me, skiing is the best type of holiday. Adventure, exercise, fun and new experiences. I would be bored with anything else, and fortunately, my family agree. But I am not in desperate need of relaxation. And the other entrepreneurs I meet aren't either. They're here to go hard every day and go home exhausted. They're here to enjoy the experience with their families. Sadly, the same is not true for those I meet who are employed. They need relaxation. They need escape. Their kids are straight into ski school for as long as possible. The energy is very different. I appreciate everyone has different priorities, but I struggle to get my head around this one. If you spend your annual leave escaping your family, then I have to conclude that things are going seriously wrong, at least on some level. So if this sounds like you, whether employed or self employed, then I encourage you to reflect and figure out how: 1) To go on holiday with energy, and 2) Give that energy back to your family, because they should be the best thing you have. You owe yourself and your family more. #familytime #livewithpurpose

It’s that time of year again – time to ditch the car and try something new. Join others across the country for Bike To Work Week, May 13-19, and pedal your way to healthier living and cleaner air! Cycling (or Clean Air Commuting as we like to call it) not only reduces traffic congestion but also helps cut down on emissions of ozone-forming pollutants and greenhouse gases. For example, every mile pedaled instead of driven saves approximately one pound of carbon dioxide from being emitted. Biking is also great for your health! It burns calories, improves circulation and reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. Good for our health, and the environment – talk about a win-win! Are you feeling the pressure as your vacation approaches, trying to finish everything before you go? As someone who loves to travel, I know it's easy to get overwhelmed, but let me tell you: with the right strategies, you can minimize stress! 💆 Here are three tips to help you prepare for your time off: 🗒️ Prioritize and plan: List out all the tasks that need to be completed before you leave. Focus on the most critical ones and set realistic goals to avoid last-minute rushes. 📧 Set up an out-of-office reply: Prepare your out-of-office email response early. Include details on your absence and provide alternative contacts to handle urgent matters. 🔒 Secure your work: Ensure that important documents and projects are accessible to your team. This prevents any disruptions and keeps everything running smoothly while you’re away. How do you do it? Do you habe a tip for me? 🌴 #kiongroup #wekeeptheworldmoving #kionambassador #vacation
