We wrapped up Q1 2024 with the most new clients joining Electives in company history! Things are moving faster than ever; someone reminded me recently that it's easy to forget to stop and celebrate milestones, so in addition to acknowledging the milestone, it's nice to also step back and reflect on the why. Here are some of the lessons learned: - Market: companies are investing in their people development at a much higher clip in 2024 vs 2023 (which is great, because development is often the number one thing employees are asking for from their companies) - Process: We realized that "choice" is not always a good thing for decision makers! In recent months, we have provided narrower, expert-driven recommendations vs. showing a wide range of interesting options (aka a lot of decisions) - Content: Manager training and building a high performance culture training are the most requested areas of development. - Customers: our main point of contact within organizations are lean HR/People Ops teams and they are wearing SO many hats. Finding ways to make their life easier frees them up from the tactical work and provides more time to be even more strategic as it relates to employee engagement, retention, and development. - Market feedback: companies want their training to feel more "modern" - live, short-form (60-90 mins) is more engaging for their teams and employees can make time for it. The instructors need to be interesting and authentically connect with their team. I will steal Jenn Smithwood-Green's great line here: "It's not about content consumption, it's about content connection." - Thoughtful team: I continue to be impressed with how our team consults with partners or soon-to-be partners, centering their goals and their challenges and being transparent in terms of what could work well and when we don't think things will work well. Alright, stopping to reflect does feel good 😊 Now in closing, and most importantly, a warm welcome to the partners who joined the Electives platform in 2024. We can't wait to learn with you as People leaders and together, bring impactful learning and development to your teams.
