Day 3 of our Women Veterans Leadership Program Cohort 6 brought us together for a day of powerful lessons, emotional connections, and newfound strength.
We began with a transformative training session led by the inspiring Mallenia Foster, Women Veterans Leadership Program advisor, and Toshiba Mitchell, Ed.D. Manager of Learning and Development for The Mission Continues. Renee delivered a profound message about the power of strong women uplifting and building one another, emphasizing that we are indeed stronger together when we lean on each other.
Renee and Toshiba guided us through developing a compelling pitch for our causes, ones that would call our cohort mates to action and connect others to our mission. The room was filled with heartfelt stories and tears as each of us shared why our cause was so close to our hearts. It was a powerful reminder that our missions are deeply personal and incredibly important.
Following this, we dove into effective communication training led by the ever-inspiring Leslie Riley. We discussed the unique communication challenges faced by women and unearthed countless golden nuggets of wisdom. One message that resonated deeply was the idea that we often wait for safety before we speak, but in truth, we are the bridge to safety. When we share, we create a safe place for others to do the same.
We explored the barriers we place on ourselves, including perceived inadequacies, and learned how to identify and either challenge or embrace them as opportunities for growth and learning.
The day ended with a powerful call to action, where voices from our diverse cohort came together, sharing stories that showcased our interconnectedness and collective strength. It was a safe space we created for one another, a space filled with love and support. Many of us shed tears, but those tears were a testament to the power of sharing our stories and uplifting one another.
Reflecting on Day 3, we're reminded that our voices are strongest when we stand together and share our stories. It's through these connections that we truly empower one another.
