Part of our Greater Good sustainability strategy is making sure we provide employment and training opportunities for people, and internships is one of the ways we look to do that. It’s always great to see younger people bring different thinking and alternative approaches to the roles and tasks they are asked to do, and it can lead to lasting change and even full-time employment as in Rachel’s case. #sustainability #internships #opportunities #employment #greatergood

Yesterday marked the conclusion of my internship with Nannette Nocon a private wealth advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from an industry professional with 40 years of experience. The support of Nannette and her team helped me flourish. Key Takeaways: 1. Prioritizing/Time Management: The early exposure to the difference between full-time work and school became evident. There can be more freedom within one work day, whereas school has a more rigid schedule. This internship taught me how to manage my time in a professional setting, and reprioritize as new tasks were presented. 2. Heart/Passion: Seeing first hand how passionate and positive Nannette was every day was so inspiring. It is true what they say about loving what you do and its impact on a person’s success. Seeing how love and energy Nannette puts into her meetings was amazing, pushing me to put my best foot forward. 3. Always ask questions: Nannette always said that the people with the questions tend to learn more than those with the answers. With that piece of advice, I felt empowered to ask for help or clarification throughout this experience. Asking questions enabled me to improve my communication skills. As I learned to concisely convey what I was struggling with, what needed to be accomplished and when. With this in mind, I was successfully able to collaborate with other team members to get tasks completed in a timely manner. I want to end by saying a huge thank you to Nocon & Associates. I will miss you all so much, but look forward to staying connected and seeing where my future goes!
Today we bid farewell to Mariel, Connor, Nina, and Catrina as their summer internships come to a close. Each of you have done outstanding work this summer! We wish you all the very best for the coming school year.
