Prowein 2024. What can be said other than that it was slow? The halls were filled with comments saying 'it's too expensive; vinexpo is better; the hotels in Paris are cheaper; the flights to Paris are cheaper and more abbundant; Paris is more fun than Düsseldorf (and let's not forget that for the second year in a row there were strikes that made things more difficult.) I tend to differ in this opinion. It's not that Vinexpo is better than Vinitaly or Prowein or otherwise. The real problem is that the wine business only needs one major international fair per year...not three. I don't care where this fair is. Another option is that they give wineries the opportunities to sign up every other year rather than every year. The fair organizer need to realize that their ultimate client is the fairgoer. I understand that a lot of money enters into the city thanks to Vinitaly/Prowein/Vinexpo, but if the fair doesn't have a positive cost benefit, then we fairgoers will invest in other ways. If they don't give us more options to increase our investments, then we will abandon them. We are in a post covid world and ready to rethink our investments. #prowein #vinitaly #vinexpo #dusseldorf

🇵🇹 In the last few posts, we discovered that Kerstin Houf was travelling in Portugal. Her aim was to push ahead with the planning and discussion of ProWein 2025 and to maintain an intensive dialogue with the winemakers from Portugal. The Portuguese joint stand at this year's ProWein was also a complete success and gave visitors the feeling of being on a trip to Portugal. Winery transactions: The Region capable of attracting the greatest number of investments was Tuscany, with 38% of transactions, followed by Piedmont (19%), Veneto (11%), Sicily (8%), essentially Etna, Lombardy (7%) and Friuli Venezia Giulia (5%). In terms of denominations, Brunello di Montalcino stands out in first place, where 16.1% of all transactions passed, followed by Barolo (8.4%), Prosecco (7.7%), Etna (7.1%), Chianti Classico (6.5%), Bolgheri (5.8%), Amarone della Valpolicella (5.2%) and Barbera d’Asti (4.5%). www.viva-business.com

It is only quarter two of 2024, yet we are delighted to announce our second major Award success. At the recent 'London Spirits Competition', Carpathian Single Malt Whisky’s Madeira expression took a ‘Gold’ medal, whilst ‘Silver’ medals were awarded to our Feteasca Neagra, Vradiano, Ruby Port, Burgundy, Cognac, Amarone, Commandaria and Peated Cask Strength expressions. The multi-disciplinary judging panel made up of 40-members, analysed entries on the basis of Quality, Value-for-Money & Appearance and so we are very proud that so many of our expressions were selected. Dr Nawaf Salameh, Founding Chairman, Alexandrion Group said: “The London Spirits Competition holds much importance for us, firstly, in terms of the diversity of the judging panel, pulling together many leading figures in the spirits industry from varying backgrounds. And secondly, London and the UK is a key market for Carpathian Single Malt Whisky and the Alexandrion Group as a whole.
