Politics warning. But fits because this is about economy more than politics camps: Many of this what Scott Galloway is repeating here in condensed form from his diverse podcasts is hitting Europe at the same time, some later. How our western economies optimise more and more by redistributing wealth from bottom to top is also a hot point of policy discussion in Germany. I.e. our discussion rightnow goes: let’s save 50M on Bürgergeld or Elterngeld, as if it would change any of our problems, instead of focusing on big levers, let alone progressively set us up for the future. For that we have no money. Thoughtful and great, as usual. https://lnkd.in/e2aBF9Ny

NEW EPISODE in our series Why the Rest Hates the West!! Following tradition used to be self-evidently common sense. Of course our ancestors got things right — or we wouldn't be here. Of course the old person was likely to be wiser than the rest of us; when most of us were dead sometime between our late 20s and early 40s, he or she was a success story *by definition*. But things look different now. So different, that we Westerners have been telling ourselves since the 18th century that our ancestors were unjust, stupid, and wrong. Not like us. At all. The moderns were going to make a wonderful new world, based upon their rationalist axioms. Except that now, we don't believe that either. To be sure, we have much higher living standards — and live, oooh, much longer. But we appear to have destroyed the planet in the process, and the future is looking bleak. We no longer expect even to be as well off as our parents — let alone better off than they were. How does all of this look from outside our Western bubble — to people for whom tradition, though badly shaken, still makes common sense? Watch to the end for the slam dunk!

On episode 860 of Kreative Kontrol, Ben Chasny discusses the lovely new Six Organs of Admittance album, 'Time is Glass,' his return to northern California after many years living throughout the United States, the politically charged conversation we had when Ranga was on the show and made some incorrect 2016 U.S. presidential election predictions, getting himself a (photobombing) dog and reading about demon familiars, living in the moment and spiritual practices, unreliable narrators, shifting pronouns, and songs that contain multitudes, a 'Simpsons' easter egg, touring again, other future plans, and much more. Have a listen below or the podcast platform you most prefer.
