Amidst the madness that is my life, I made a point to visit the Arab Media Summit this week. It was a challenge to find the time, but where there is a will, there is always a way, and although I could only carve out just over an hour, this is why it was important for me to attend, all be it, briefly. 🎬 The Arab Media Summit is supported and organized by the UAE Government so it is always important to understand what is at the forefront of the agenda on a Government level in the industry you are in. 🎬 To hear what some of the key stakeholders and media experts had to say about the state of the industry and learn from their insights. This year had a number of ministers and dignitaries on panels and in fireside chats including His Excellency Omar Al Olama, Minister of AI and even personalities like Bassem Yousef. 🎬 To understand how the event is evolving year on year. Which areas are gaining more momentum and where is there more attention. It was clear based on the fact that right as you entered the hall an ‘AI Garden’ was the prevalent feature, that AI is front and center at the moment. 🎬 To network within the industry. In the brief time I was at the event I bumped into at least 10 people, which in some cases has ignited follow on conversations. Hosting a Huddle with leaders from Global Capability centres (GCCs) is definately a deep-learning exercise. And I was fortunate to engage and make new connections with some of them at the GCC symposium a fortnight ago. Here are my three key takeaways/observations: 1. What stands out is that there are opportunities and potential for every #GCC, irrespective of size,, but training and skill development are the need of the hour, and will be the key differentiator for growth. Dig deep - you won't strike gold on the surface...once you discover it, design masterpieces, polish and retain these jewels. 2. Emerging technologies, #AI #Automation #Robotics #ML must be embraced with thorough evaluation, especially at the PoC stage. These digital transformations are evolving at a rapid pace and AI will augment and redefine customer experience, but must be adopted keeping the Human-in-the-Loop till reliability is attained. Governance will be key to deploy use cases that are 'fit for purpose'. 3. The value creation and the key metrics will need to showcase not just the actuals, but also the promise for the future with insights that are meaningful and authentic. The depth and breadth of opportunities that could be explored do help in building a strong reputation for the GCC and add to the credibility of talent and tech potential.
