It was insightful and inspiring to connect with fellow Aussies to discuss infrastructure, technology, economic security, and geopolitics. Australia's geographic location in the world, which was once (unfairly) described as 'tyranny of distance', has become one of its greatest strengths, located in the beating heart of the dynamic Indo-Pacific region. Australia's insights and analysis of the region are highly prized here in DC and it was a nice refresher to hear them after 10 years living in the U.S.! We discussed Chell Lyons and Roland Rajah's work to increase economic security in an age of instability by creating a new MDB. We explored Alexandre Dayant's industry-leading research on development assistance across SE-Asia and the Pacific. We shared how The Wilson Center is leading thought leadership on international infrastructure development, discussing challenges such as private capital mobilization for infrastructure and the upcoming re-authorization of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. What's clear is that the same thinking that got us into the age of crisis cannot get us out of it. We need visionary ideas that are genuinely inclusive, sustainable, and resilient, coupled with bold action. Today's discussion proved that we aren't short of visionary ideas. Thanks to Mark Kennedy for organizing and hosting.
Great discussion with between The Wilson Center's Wahba Institute and Australia's Lowy Institute - Rory Linehan, Sam Barr, Roland Rajah, Alexandre Dayant, Dr. Prashanth Parameswaran, Chell Lyons, Jeff Kucik.

The Inevitable Separation of Money and State? Just as separating church and state protected religious freedom, Bitcoin might be paving the way for financial freedom. Historically, both institutions have fostered large-scale collaboration and coordination among people. However, keeping money free from political influence could be key to a fairer economic future. Is Bitcoin the tool we need to achieve this? #Bitcoin #FinancialIndependence #Decentralization #FutureFinance

I'm feeling Inspired by this incredible keynote on building a 1000-year company by Kenneth Robison! What I learned: - It's actually possible! Building a 1000-year company is possible with a deep-rooted purpose, a line of leaders/stewards who are sold out for that purpose, and clearly defined objectives and strategy for the long term. Stop thinking about next year and start thinking about where you want the company/department to be when someone else is in your chair. - Advocate for systems that are designed for exponential growth in complexity. Bridge the gap between human capacity for knowledge and the actual knowledge in the world. - Find a few friends along the way. Who can you trust to partner with? What relationships will help you close the ever-growing knowledge gap? If you get a chance to watch, let me know your thoughts in the comments!
There is never a time that we don't feel inspired by our members and the work they are doing in the world and Stagen Member, Kenneth Robison, does not fall short of that. At the 2023 Reunion, Kenny shared how he is currently building his company to prosper for the next 1,000 years. Founded in 1958, Crest Industries is wrestling with big questions to ensure the company is set up for success when faced with the triumphs and tragedies to come in the future. We are proud to have an organization a part of our community that is dedicated to challenging and empowering others to grow beyond what they believe is possible. Kenny, the passion you have for the future of humanity is inspiring. Here's to the next 1,000 years!

This is a flawed system. Why has HR become a non human approach system? I tried to understand it by trying to make my CV as per a particular job discreption. 2 requirements which were not complusory but would have been an advantage, which i did not have, gave my current CV a 65% match… Position School administration & secretary Missing experience was 1) HR management software 2) educational setting Both were mentioned but not a complussion So if it wasnt a complusion why a drop to 65% I added these 2 points and it was a 100% match… In the process of a perfect match, this system has demeaned a good resume that could have been a good fit, if the complusory requirements were truly sort after. Isnt this a waste of the company time & resources and an applicant time? There are suggestions floating around on social media to add the requirements even if you have to lie just to get a call… is this good? Is this not cheating? Dear HR, Perfect people, perfect resume, do not exist. Please explore CV with a human touch not flawed systems. We are humans applying, do not let systems just our experience and profiles. Thank you. #jobseekers #ats #HR

I am often asked by MSPs the best advice I have for selling their company and my answer includes: 1. Know your number and know what it will take to get from here to there, which we refer to as your Value Creation Strategy. 2. Surround yourself with a team that knows what they are doing. Skilled M&A advisors, lawyers, and accountants can make the process simultaneously much more successful and much less stressful for you. 3. Start planning early, a minimum of 2 years, 3-5 being optimal. There are changes you can make, starting today, that will materially improve your business and there is a lot to prepare for. #MandANation from ConnectWise was an invaluable two days for MSPs thinking of buying or selling, incredible content and presenters back-to-back. Kudos to the legend, Arlin Sorensen for making it happen! There will be another one, if you are an MSP thinking of buying or selling over the next few years, you won't want to miss it!
We held the inaugural M&A Nation last week and are still hearing about the impact of the event. If you missed it, don't worry! There is more to come this year. Check out this video and see what MSPs are saying about the importance of this event and The IT Nation Community! #MandANation #itnation
