G7 LEADERS UNITE TO ACCELERATE GLOBAL FUSION ENERGY DEVELOPMENT In a major boost for fusion energy, G7 leaders have committed to establishing a dedicated Working Group on Fusion Energy and aligning regulatory approaches across member nations. The move aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of fusion power plants worldwide. The announcement was made in the Leaders' Communiqué published at the conclusion of the 50th G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy on June 16, 2024. The communiqué highlights fusion's potential to provide a lasting solution to climate change and energy security challenges. Key commitments include setting up the G7 Fusion Working Group to strengthen international R&D collaboration, working towards consistent fusion regulations to enable private investments, and hosting the inaugural ministerial meeting of the World Fusion Energy Group in Rome. With strong political backing from G7 powerhouses like the US, UK, Germany and others, the global fusion industry is poised for rapid growth in the coming years. The coordinated push could unlock billions in public and private funding to commercialize fusion - the ultimate clean energy source. #NEI #nuclearpower #nuclearenergy #fusionenergy #energysecurity

Even World Economic Forum supports Nuclear - very unusually for Labor to be afraid of it, is the payoff for (fake)renewables that big? Remember renewables are not renewable. The windmills and solar panels (it costs the environment heavily to produce them and install them after killing off koalas) end up as hugely expensive trash to replace in a relatively short time - while nuclear would still be reliably cooking long afterwards. “Small reactors could make nuclear energy big again. How do they work, and are they safe?” World Economic Forum Oct 6, 2022 https://lnkd.in/geyUFB5V 5 reasons we must embrace nuclear energy in the fight against climate change WEF - Jan 17, 2024 https://lnkd.in/g37vvvYD
