Animal Welfare and Animal Control Professionals! Don't miss this excellent and important discussion about what your communities can do to address free-roaming cats. Register soon for this April 16 webinar. National Animal Care & Control Association #animalwelfare #animalcontrol #communitycats
⏰ TIME TO REGISTER 📅April 16 Webinar TNR, TNVR, RTF, SNR, RTF….It can all seem a little confusing. What can your community do to address free-roaming cats that, all too often, find their way into the shelter? Communities across the U.S. have embraced models that proactively address community cats. 🐈 Join us on April 16 when Adam Leath and Becky Haze will explore current and emerging terminology surrounding community cats and examine ways of addressing the overpopulation. As animal welfare professionals, we are the best equipped to provide factual information about humane handling and response to the needs of our community. Unfortunately, the topic of how to address community cats can be quite polarizing. This can result in complaints to your department, restructuring or even elimination of programs and services, or the implementation of programs that are void of parameters that prioritize the welfare of the animals. During this session, we hope to spark interest in the development of programs that focus on data-driven solutions to community cats. 🐈Register Soon! Big Data was used to unveil critical insights into compliance within U.S. commercial dog breeding in a new study published in the ASSOCIATION OF SHELTER VETERINARIANS INC's Journal of Shelter Medicine and Community Animal Health (JSMCAH)! This study impacts animal welfare by highlighting prevalent issues and facilitating data-driven dialogue. Ross Mauck, Jyothi V. Robertson DVM, DABVP, and Marjorie Vincent from JVR Shelter Strategies used a data science approach to extract, clean and analyze 21,667 inspection reports from the USDA Public Search Tool to underscore the potential of harnessing Big Data to inform regulatory decisions and improve animal welfare within commercial dog breeding. https://lnkd.in/gvnbR4n7 #VeterinaryResearch #AnimalWelfare #BigData #VeterinaryMedicine

Worldwide there are 200 million stray dogs 🐕 and an even higher number of stray cats 🐈 roaming the streets. Many more animals are waiting in shelters for a home which often never comes. Killing the animals to control the overpopulation of dogs and cats is still legal and practiced frequently in several countries across the world. 💔 On average, a cat births up to 19 kittens a year and a dog up to 24 puppies. Therefore, as a first priority, we work towards a reduction of the stray animal population through humane methods to improve their wellbeing. It is widely agreed that the only way to humanely and sustainably control stray dog populations is by implementing the CNVR method: Catch – Neuter – Vaccinate – Return. This is why our FOUR PAWS Stray Animal Care teams around the world work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of dogs and cats in need. Our stray animal care programmes in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia 🌏 focus on sterilising as many stray dogs and cats as possible. As they do not have access to medical care 💉, do not have a stable source of food and water, and due to lack of adequate shelter, are exposed to harsh weather conditions, they are more vulnerable to getting sick or injured. In addition to sterilising and vaccinating animals to reduce stray populations, our veterinary teams also treat wounds and diseases and, if needed, perform additional surgeries. 🐾 Read more about our work here ➡️ https://brnw.ch/21wKzFj #StrayAnimals #CNVR #AnimalWelfare #Dog #Cat #Veterinarian
