How does TRANSPORTATION contribute to manufacturing waste? Transportation waste happens when manufacturing resources like raw materials, finished parts, equipment, tools, and employees move more than necessary. This extra movement doesn't add value and only increases costs and risks, which customers aren't willing to pay for. Transportation waste may takes many forms such as: 🔴 Returning unused parts from the assembly line to the warehouse 🔴 Sourcing parts from distant vendors when local options exist 🔴 Shipping “cheaper” components across countries 🔴 Poor logistics resulting delayed deliveries Ultimately, such inefficiencies can diminish the company's competitiveness and profitability. People often confuse ‘Transportation’ with ‘Motion’, which is another form of lean waste. We’ll discuss ‘Motion Waste’ in detail in our next post. #transportation #waste #efficiency #7wastes #leanmanufacturing

Do you already know our Reverse Logistics service? ♻️ On top of our core business, intermodal transport, we've become experts in the reverse logistics of materials and products that are sent back at the end of their service life or which are disposed of as waste. For more than 20 years, we have been engaged in the micro-collection and storage of automotive waste, and the organization as intermediary of complex national or cross-border networks and the relevant paperwork associated therewith. 💡 In 2023 alone, we successfully managed a significant volume of materials: 47,000 tons of used tyres, 8,000 tons of spent batteries and 1,000 tons of used motor oil! Our contribution to circular economy 🌱 To know more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dYakZxRE #AmbrogioIntermodal #ReverseLogistics #CircularEconomy #GreenLogistics

Beyond cleaner vehicles, optimizing asset utilization and leveraging technology are key steps in reducing the transportation industry's carbon footprint. Efficient networks minimize deadhead, consume fuel with loaded miles, and leads to lower emissions. This article is several months old yet still drives home this point. I'm happy to report Paper Transport (PTI) tackles the challenge of empty miles head-on with a proactive and innovative approach to load planning and optimization. We don't just acknowledge the issue; we actively optimize every mile, turning empty miles from a hindrance into an opportunity for efficiency and financial gain. Paper Transport is at the forefront of reshaping the narrative around empty miles, turning them from a challenge into a chance for shippers to maximize their logistics operations and financial gains. https://lnkd.in/g-qRXi7U

Last year, the government set out a path to zero-emission vehicles by 2035. This means we have just over a decade before the production of new diesel and petrol-powered vehicles comes to a halt. In this blog, we explore the future of logistics, and how the sector is working towards reducing its impact on the environment. The big question is, is a fully-electric future viable for road haulage? Find out here: https://lnkd.in/e9cMhJkS
