The Qatar Emiri Air Force operate 24 Pilatus Aircraft Ltd PC-21 advanced training aircraft. These 24 aircraft provide the primary and advanced training for all QEAF pilots prior to their operational conversion onto type. From the 2010s Qatar has committed to an extensive military expansion and modernisation program that has seen the Air Force grow from an inventory of 12 older combat aircraft and a few fighter trainers to a current inventory of over 60 modern multirole fighter aircraft, with another 60-plus on order. Modern attack helicopters and strategic and tactical airlift platforms round out the force, with aerial refueling platforms also on order. The point being, the Qatar Armed Forces is a well-equipped sovereign force, responsible for defence against external threats. Part of that investment includes the systems behind the platforms, such as the Pilatus Training System, and Ocean Software's FlightPRO. Systems that can generate effective combat capability as quickly as possible - providing better, safer, faster, stronger flight training and operations, with reduced risk. #pilottraining #airforce #aviation

The new $600 million, five-year contract extension awarded to Boeing Defence Australia for the Royal Australian Air Force's F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler fleets will significantly impact Queensland's economy. More than 350 local jobs in Queensland, primarily at RAAF Base Amberley, will be secured, contributing to the long-term retention of a highly skilled workforce. With more than 90% of the contract value spent in Australia, particularly in south-east Queensland, the region stands to benefit economically from the government's commitment to supporting the Defence industry. This contract extension is crucial for Queensland's job market and reinforces the state's role in maintaining top-tier aircraft and regional stability. 🛫 Images sourced: Manufacturers' Monthly #Boeing #BoeingDefenceAustralia #AustralianManufacturing #QueenslandManufacturing #ManufacturingNews #QueenslandManufacturingJobs

Ever heard of a transatlantic flight? When an airplane travels over the Atlantic Ocean to reach locations in North America, Latin America, or Europe from countries like Africa, South Asia, or the Middle East, it is referred to as a transatlantic trip. A variety of aircraft, including balloons, airships, and fixed-wing aircraft, have made these flights. Transatlantic flights were initially beset by faulty aircraft engines, navigational issues over large waterways, and weather patterns that were erratic, particularly in the North Atlantic. But since the middle of the 20th century, transatlantic flights have been commonplace for a variety of reasons, including political, military, and commercial ones, connecting continents and promoting international travel and trade. #aviation #atlantic #aviationlovers

The UK has a proud history with the Sikorsky S61 ranging from scheduled services to offshore rig support and military sub-contracts. Today we can report that, after an appropriate 61 years, the last one left the UK register yesterday. From the first BEA Helicopters aircraft registered in 1963 (G-ASNL seen in this postcard image at the old Penzance Heliport), the history is complete with G-FLKI sold to Canada - one of the three acquired by Bristow Group when they purchased British International Helicopters and since replaced by S92s on the Falklands contract. For completeness, there is an FAA-registered S61 in the UK that is intended (one day...) for load lifting operations. There are also no less than seven Westland Sea Kings on the civil register and operated by Historic Helicopters. Some of these will make airshow appearances in the future. #Helicopter #MarketIntelligence

The Qatar Emiri Air Force has sent one of its new NHIndustries NH90 NATO frigate helicopter (NFH) variants to the show, marking the type’s WDS debut. The NH90 helicopter is enjoying mixed fortunes at the moment. Australia has just grounded and retired its fleet, scrapping the aircraft for spares, while Norway terminated its NH90 programme in 2022, and demanded a full refund, and Sweden has also announced plans to retire the type prematurely. But other operators are enjoying more success with the aircraft, including the QEAF, which operates both major variants. Qatar announced its intention to acquire the NH90 In 2014, and signed a contract for 28 NH90s (16 NH90-TTHs for tactical transport and 12 NH90-NFHs for maritime duties) at the Dimdex defence exhibition on 14 March 2018. The purchase was finalised on 20 August 2018, for a total of $3.7 billion, covering the agreed number of NH90s, with an option with six more of each type. The first aircraft were handed over in March 2022. The NFH helicopters serve with No.8 Anti Surface Vessel Squadron while the TTHs are in service with No.9 Multirole Squadron, both units being based at Doha. https://lnkd.in/dBTisJck #events #wds2024 #airforce #helicopters #aviation
