*Fun fact: I used to work at Walt Disney World* Here are 3 things I learned that have helped me in my voiceover career   ➡ New to VO? Pay attention:   1. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆. It’s so easy to sit back and procrastinate. But at the parks, we were taught to always help out and make ourselves available for any situation.   If you have a slow audition day, work on marketing! Erratic schedule? Find a way to fill the gaps by practicing your reads or making up/working on new characters.   Engage with creators, game devs, and fellow voice artists on social media.   There’s always something you can be working on within the VO sphere to keep your skills on point.   2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰. Sure, the attractions, food, and tech (those sweet, sweet A1000 animatronics) are all wonderful, but do you know what (or, rather, who) makes it all happen? Cast members, or in this case, YOU!   You might feel inadequate or nervous about the work—but remember that the client chose you.   You brought something unique to the table and were a better fit than your competitors.   So, own it, be prepared, and go crush it.   3. 𝗜𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲. No matter who your VO or Disney hero is, never lose sight of the fact that they all started at the beginning, too.   No Imagineer (nor Walt or Roy) came out ready-made. They knew very little, they had no experience, and they were just as anxious as you might be.   But they kept pushing.   VO can be intimidating, but 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜.  Real talk? I’d argue that most of my success has simply come from not giving up. 📌 What’s something you learned from a past job that’s served you well in your career?
