As the Career College Transition Fair comes up April 17 at Seymour High School, we are introducing you to the participants. Valeo Under the leadership of automotive pioneer Eugène Buisson, Société Anonyme Française du Ferodo, which began in a small workshop in the Paris region, produced the first friction materials made in France. SAFF became a major player in the automotive revolution at the start of the 20th century and was already dominating the market for the production of brake linings and clutches on the eve of World War II. By the early 1950s, it had built its workforce up to 2,500 employees. The post-war boom was a highly dynamic period for both automakers and automotive suppliers. SAFF took advantage of this prosperous period to create numerous innovations and extend its business to cover all types of electrical equipment for vehicles, such as spark plugs, alternators and starters, as well as ignition, lighting and wiper systems, a strategy that quickly paid off. Following numerous acquisitions and drawing on its almost monopolistic position in the French automotive brake and clutch equipment supply market, Ferodo embarked on a new challenge in the early 1960s: To expand internationally. As the 1980s began, SAFF’s reach had become global. The company had an operating presence in 15 countries through more than 70 companies. The question then arose of bringing together the entity’s various businesses under a single brand. At its annual shareholders meeting on May 28, 1980, the company adopted the name Valeo. From its first foray into the Spanish market to its rise to prominence in Asia in the 2000s, Valeo gradually established itself internationally as a leader in a fast-changing automotive market. Valeo’s history in the United States started in 1980 with the creation of Valeo Auto industries Inc. based in Delaware to develop and sell thermal systems to major American automakers. As the group expanded, Valeo created joint ventures with Eaton, Osram Sylvania and V. Johnson Enterprises, which highly developed Valeo’s leadership in North America. The group also created a joint venture with Raytheon, which was eventually renamed Valeo Radar Systems and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Valeo. Valeo acquired Blackstone and ITT Industries, an acquisition that significantly reinforced Valeo’s presence in North America and made the electrical activity one of the three world leaders. In 2017, Valeo USA expanded its presence into the San Francisco Bay Area with a new engineering and innovation site in San Mateo, California. The company has been in Seymour's Freeman Field Industrial Park since 1978. Source: valeo.com

MBA Admissions Consultant & Career Strategist | Top Ten LinkedIn Voice: Education | Top Strategic Communications Voice | 30k followers
"Make sure you pursue opportunities that align with your goals and values. With numerous career choices available, it's important not to be swayed by what others are doing and to ensure that the companies you choose to move forward with meet your needs and aspirations." - John-Henry Ochieng, media campaign operations associate at 84.51˚ | Clients: Kellogg’s, Dreyer’s, Mars, Grupo Bimbo "I connected with my current company via a recruiting event on the Michigan Ross campus. I found the Career Development Office’s peer coaching resources extremely helpful. I got to learn interview and application insights from friends at Ross who already had experiences at companies that I was interested in, too. I also appreciated my core courses’ professors exposing us to the industry by inviting guest speakers who have been powerhouses at their companies to build connections." - Yu (Will) Liu, senior audit assistant at Deloitte "I recommend that current One-Year Master's students carefully strategize their career approach. Rather than indiscriminately applying to all available jobs, it is beneficial to work backward and be discerning about the specific companies, industries, and functions they aspire to be a part of. This focused approach will enable them to streamline their efforts and increase the likelihood of securing opportunities aligned with their professional goal." - Harivars Dhir, manager of demand planning, market analysis, and supplier performance at Carnival Corporation #Ross #MBA

Saksham Training & Consulting | ReSet Consulting & Training | Ex CMO- JSW Cement | Ex AVP - Asian Paints
While in Asian Paints, on a few occasions, I was part of the team that went to graduate and post-graduate colleges for campus recruitment. It was a great experience interacting with youngsters, brimming with ideas and enthusiasm, waiting to go out there in the ‘real’ world and make a mark for themselves. However, I observed that very often, when these very Executive Trainees joined the workforce, they would be kind of lost!! Though not for long – considering that Asian Paints had one of the best-planned induction programs. In my recent interactions with Campus freshers and corporates during various consulting assignments I have perceived a considerable gap between the expectations of the corporates, and the readiness of the recruits. Through Saksham Consulting & Training LLP, Arijit Basu and I plan to collaborate with corporates and fill this very gap, for one has to experience both sides in order to comprehend the inherent value and full impact of a strategically planned induction and orientation program. To put it very briefly, our program, customized for each corporate, will provide the following: ➡ Detailed insight into the company’s culture, policies, and practices. ➡ Thorough knowledge of the products and their variants. ➡ In-depth understanding of sales and its different aspects - in order to get them ‘sales force ready.’ ➡ Identification of the strengths of each individual, and working with them accordingly, so as to upskill the underperformers, and groom those with potential for higher roles. ➡ An awareness and appreciation of the not-so-visible aspects of a corporate career, and how to deal with one’s emotions despite the ups and downs. We hope to put our collective experience and understanding of people and practices to good use, so as to develop the capabilities of the recruits, while ensuring the interests of the corporate like reduced attrition and disruption of operations, and higher performance & engagement levels among employees. What are your thoughts on the same? Do share. Also, do get in touch if you would like to enhance the effectiveness of your induction programs or other tailor-made Orientation & Training programs at sethunathan@sakshamllp.in or basu.arijit@sakshamllp.in #induction #corporateorientation #potential #salesforcereadiness

Reflecting on my early career days during National Careers Week, I can't help but reminisce about my time at L'Oréal. My years spent there were truly transformative, shaping my work to this day. Key takeaways: 🌟Strive for Excellence (and Never Stop Learning): Continuous improvement is vital. Embrace a mindset of lifelong learning to stay ahead in your field. 🌟The Value of Listening: Listening to customers and stakeholders is important. Collaboration allows you to create a product or service far better than what you would create on your own. 🌟Maintain Perspective: Amidst challenges, remember to keep perspective. As I learned, "It's only lipstick." What standout lessons have you gleaned from your early career experiences? #NationalCareersWeek #CareerReflections #EarlyCareerLessons

Shaping the future together! 🚀☀️That was the central theme I highlighted at the Youth and Apprentice event this month. It was a fantastic opportunity to look back on the past year together and gain new perspectives. Therefore, I would like to share the following thoughts with you: 💭 As a guest speaker, I had the chance to give insight during the 'Coffee & Culture Talk☕️' with Konecranes executives on how we can further develop our company as a place for all generations. Throughout the year, there has also been active exchange on topics such as the new generation in the job market, corporate values, sustainability, diversity & inclusion. It's always enriching to receive new ideas and broaden my perspective. Because the exchange about challenges and ideas is crucial for our common future🌟 Prejudices against our generation, Gen Z, should not be generalized because we are diverse in our interests, values, and abilities. We are a generation full of energy and potential, deserving of support and recognition. As an #Liftfluencer🪝🔗 and part of Generation Z, I firmly believe that together with all generations, we can shape the future. Therefore, I urge you to let us use our talents, learn from each other and support one another to succeed as a team. Because each of us contributes to ensuring that the company not only achieves economic success but also becomes a place where trust is paramount, where each individual feels valued and heard. Let's create a more integrative work culture and recognize diversity both between and within generations. Because our strength lies in collaboration, and we all contribute to shaping the future 🫵🚀
