Like many #innovations which will help drive down the #cost of #floatingoffshorewind, the sum of all these technologies #combined will be #greater than any one solution on its own. Just imagine, a #swiftanchor from SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies which can resist vertical mooring loads paired with a nylon mooring line and the huge #benefits that this could offer from reducing cost, pressure on #supplychain, #environmentalimpact to seabed and most importantly, a reduction in #carbon and the reliance on #fossilfuels. At the end of the day, this is what we are trying to #achieve isn't it?

//ARCADIS OST 1// At Barge Master, we're proud to have played a supporting role in Heerema Marine Contractors' recent groundbreaking project— Arcadis Ost 1, the first floating offshore wind park installation using the impressive SSCV Thialf. Our team at Barge Master contributed by delivering two motion-compensated gangways crucial for accessing the turbines. Since the main deck of the Thialf was too high for the gangways to access the TP’s, two outriggers needed to be made at the machine deck on both sides of the vessel. Our gangways, equipped with a tipladder, provided a safe and effective solution, ensuring seamless access to the narrow spaces over the turbine railings. “Barge master provided us with the unique ability to approach the WTG under any heading, allowing us to maximize the use of Thialf during the WTG installation.” Thijs Postma, Project Manager at Heerema contributes. Arcadis Ost 1 is the first wind park in the world that is installed using a purely floating installation method, called the Rotor Nacelle Assembly (NRA) method, developed by Heerema, Vestas and Parkwind. The park consists of 27 Vestas 9.5 MW turbines, located in the German part of the Baltic Sea. The park supplies enough green energy to power the equivalent of 290,000 households. We have completed the planning for the construction of four Vestas V150 6.0 MM wind turbines with a hub height of 105 m at the Oldenswort wind farm. We developed a cost-optimized deep foundation for each location with 48 reinforced concrete driven piles (Per Aarsleff A/S), as load-bearing subsoil is only available from around 12 metres below ground level. The overlying clay and tidal sands are not sufficiently load-bearing for a shallow #foundation variant. Pile lengths of up to 20 m are required to ensure the needed bearing capacity. In difficult #subsoil conditions with soft soils, the foundation concept focuses not only on achieving sufficient stability but also on serviceability, in particular on achieving the system-related minimum values for rotational and horizontal spring stiffness. Based on our experience with foundations in complex subsoil conditions, we have developed foundation concepts (pile positions) which, if necessary, also provide for additional measures for dimensioning torsional effects. Our know-how is in demand. “Shell & Co to Install Three Monopiles at Dutch Offshore Wind Farm in ‘Silent Mode’” April 12, 2024, - Adrijana Buljan “Ecowende, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, and the Dutch company GBM Works have signed a contract for deploying GBM’s #noisereductiontechnology for the installation of three #monopiles at the #offshorewindfarm Ecowende will build at Hollandse Kust West (HKW) Site VI in the Netherlands.” “GBM has developed an installation method called Vibrojet that combines #vibrations on the top of the monopile with GBM’s #jettingtechnology inside the monopile, which makes the installation more #silent and thus minimises the impact on #marinelife , according to GBM.” “Ecowende and the Vibrojet developer also highlighted that the technique is more efficient as it allows monopiles to be installed quicker, compared to the traditional impact hammer, as well as deeper, compared to using a #Vibrohammer only.” “For GBM Works, the contract represents the first application of Vibrojet on a commercial project.” “Marcelo Werneck, Business Development Director at GBM Works, said: “Hollandse Kust West represents our entrance to the offshore installation market and we are proud to contribute to Ecowende on its #ecological ambitions. The following year, the company announced it would build a prototype machine under the SIMPLE II project in 2022.” “Shell and Eneco secured the development rights for Hollandse Kust West VI in December 2022. Last year, the joint venture unveiled plans for the 760 MW offshore wind farm to be built “in harmony with nature, with minimal impact on birds, bats, and marine mammals”.” “In September 2023, Ecowende partnered with Waardenburg Ecology, the largest ecological consultancy firm in the Netherlands, to develop a comprehensive ecological programme for the offshore wind farm.” “At the beginning of this year, Eneco and Japan’s Chubu Electric Power signed an agreement that will see the Japanese company acquiring a 30 per cent stake in the Ecowende joint venture, in which Eneco holds 40 per cent. Svensk Vindkraft / Swedish Wind Power's latest magazine came out last week with extra focus on #offshore wind power.   Page 33-35 focuses on how offshore wind power can contribute to protecting and strengthening #biodiversity. Our Offshore Project Manager Måns Larsson is interviewed about our joint venture SeaSapphire's cooperation with Clinton Marine Survey for the floating wind project Wellamo, where #HVO100 fuel was used in the vessels conducting the geotechnical seabed surveys.   "Using HVO100 is a bit more expensive, but the environment is important for us at SeaSapphire, and if we can decrease the climate impact of the project, it is worth it" says Måns, who is one of the project managers for the Wellamo wind farm.   The article also features our partner Baltic Sea Action Group, BSAG, who we work with to understand how to protect the sensitive marine environment in the Baltic Sea when developing wind power.   Read the full article and magazine here (in Swedish): https://lnkd.in/dU9KZpjV #Eolus #Renewables #RenewableEnergy
