Every Thursday, we will be discussing patent myths and misconceptions. Today, we are discussing the concept that "Patents Are Only for Groundbreaking Inventions". The misconception that patents are only awarded for ground-breaking or extremely complicated ideas is one of the most widespread. In actuality, patents can shield a broad range of inventions, including small adjustments made to already-existing products, formulations, techniques, and product designs. The most important factors are novelty and non-obviousness rather than innovation scale. This means that patents can be granted for even minor improvements that provide additional features or efficiencies.
