Key topics included using weather balloons for microgravity research, advancements in space medicine, and the impact of space conditions on genetic engineering and protein crystallization. The panel also discussed collaborations between pharmaceutical and space tech companies to develop new drugs and bio labs in satellites for continuous research. In a world first, inorganic analytical geochemistry techniques used to study the formation and evolution of the Earth, Moon and other astronomical bodies, have been used to search for early biomarkers of Alzheimer’s Disease in human blood. Miniaturized mass spectrometers, one of the keys to the search for life in space Searching for life in space means looking for chemical compounds, and mass spectrometry is one of the most widely used techniques for identifying and quantifying the chemical composition of a sample. But ordinary mass spectrometers have sizes and weights that make them impossible to transport in a spacecraft: hence the need to miniaturize. In this interesting article, published in 2019, different miniaturization techniques are described. Miniaturization itself is not the problem as much as avoiding the drop in performance is. It's glad to be the part as a member of NASA Gene lab this year GeneLab helps scientists understand how the fundamental building blocks of life itself – DNA, RNA, proteins, and metabolites – change from exposure to microgravity, radiation, and other aspects of the space environment. GeneLab does so by providing fully coordinated epigenomics, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data alongside essential metadata describing each spaceflight and space-relevant experiment. By carefully curating and implementing best practices for data standards, users can combine individual GeneLab datasets to gain new, comprehensive insights about the effects of spaceflight on biology. In this way, GeneLab extends the scientific knowledge gained from each biological experiment conducted in space, allowing scientists from around the world to make novel discoveries and develop new hypotheses from these priceless data
