Transitioning to a zero-carbon future is not a light-switch event and we believe we need to continue our focus on innovating lower-emissions solutions to secure a sustainable future for all. Our fuel-agnostic engine platform is designed to reduce emissions by enabling vehicles to run on low-to-zero carbon fuels such as hydrogen, natural gas and renewable natural gas. This platform uses a common base engine, in which different engine versions have a high degree of parts in common. Built on this architecture, the Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2 ICE) is a promising bridge technology for India’s commercial vehicle sector, making it a financially and operationally viable solution in a wide range of medium and heavy-duty trucking applications. What do you think are the biggest challenges to scaling up e-fuel production for aviation? Our article "Forging a Sustainable Sky: Unveiling the Pillars of Aviation E-Fuel Production for Carbon Emission Circularity" in iScience Cell Press journal discusses the challenges of scaling up e-fuel production for aviation. It outlines several key hurdles, such as technology-specific challenges, including the high cost and energy requirements of Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies, the production and supply of green hydrogen, and the efficiency and scalability of Fischer-Tropsch technology. Additionally, the integration and reliance on renewable energy sources pose significant challenges due to variability and current infrastructure limitations. Our article further emphasizes the need for substantial investment and supportive policies to overcome these obstacles and facilitate the transition towards sustainable aviation fuel production. #SustainableAviation, #EFuels, #CarbonEmission, #AviationIndustry, #renewableenergy Link: https://lnkd.in/g-i-iR_n

The future of #mobility is green, and #hydrogen is a significant part of it. Hydrogen-powered mobility is on the rise, and while it's not yet on par with diesel, the gap is steadily narrowing. Advances in fuel cell technology, lower production costs for green hydrogen, and expanding refuelling infrastructure are paving the way for hydrogen in a competitive market. Furthermore, with the increase in carbon taxes and government regulations for cleaner transport solutions, diesel could become more expensive, thereby making hydrogen a financially viable alternative. Given favourable factors such as region, electricity prices, and infrastructural growth, experts suggest that hydrogen could achieve TCO parity with diesel by the early 2030s, particularly for heavy-duty vehicles. To learn more and discover how you can reduce TCO with hydrogen, visit us at IAA TRANSPORTATION today. Our in-house mobility expert, Stefan Stollenwerk, will be speaking on #Hydrogen for #heavy-duty vehicles and #TCO at 11 am, and available at our Booth, C52 to guide you through various efficient processes and innovative refuelling solutions for #sustainable mobility management. Shoutout to Resato Hydrogen Technology for designing the hydrogen refuelling station for our Booth! #Hydrogen #EON #IAA #Resato #Mobility #Transport #Sustainability

Decarbonising heavy transport is crucial as trucks and buses contribute to over a third of road transport CO2 emissions, despite making up less than ten per cent of vehicles on the road. Hydrogen-powered HGVs could help. Fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), which use hydrogen to generate electricity, offer advantages such as instant refuelling and longer range, making them well-suited for long-haul journeys. However, the infrastructure for hydrogen refuelling is still sparse, effectively preventing widespread adoption. And, while green hydrogen – produced via electrolysis using renewable energy – offers an environmentally friendly option, it remains costly and less efficient than batteries. Further investment in infrastructure and technology are crucial to reaching hydrogen's potential in transport. You can read more about the challenges facing hydrogen’s role in decarbonising heavy transport on the Pailton Engineering blog. #HydrogenFuel #NetZero #SustainableTransport #HeavyTransport

Accelerea™ part of CUMMINS, has made a breakthrough and has created and commissioned its first locomotive that is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. This train has been commissioned to HY2RAIL and it will be used for freight rail applications. HY2RAIL, the Austrian project previously had normal diesel generators operating on their rails. However, now these have been replaced by Accelera’s fuel cells and these will become the primary power unit to be used in the conversion project. This conversion project will focus on a light On Track Machine (OTM) vehicle. The article below focuses on the pathway another company has chosen to take towards making their operations hydrogen-based and more environmentally friendly. The partnership and the plan around this project, depicts how important it is to the company that this hydrogen project becomes operational and successful.
