There are so many people to honor today. It's both NATIONAL SCHOOL NURSE DAY & NATIONAL THIRD SHIFT WORKERS DAY - Each year on on the Wednesday of National Nurses Week honors all school nurses who care for the children in the schools every day. School nurses promote learning through healthy children. School nurses are often the first place a student thinks to go when they don't feel well or have been hurt. But they also provide a wealth of information that supports a successful education as well. Also, each year, National Third Shift Workers Day on the second Wednesday in May recognizes the workers who face the night to keep businesses running, hospitals staffed, and streets safe. However, not all third shifts are in business. Hospitals, first responders, and nursing homes work 24 hours a day, too. Metropolitan areas of any size have employees working overnight to ensure the safety and reliability of water, power, and other infrastructure. Kudos to both sets of professionals. We are lucky to have them. #nationalschoolnurseday #thirdshiftworkersday #winstonwednesdaywisdom #learnmorein2024

I have some questions for current nursing students and current nurses. My career journey in 2000 started off in the Nursing Field, then I changed my major to Health Education. The Nursing Field has popped up again in various forms, which out saying much. I'm interested in learning about what helped you succeed in Nursing School. What academic workshops, life skills and professional development opportunities helped you along your journey. If you didn't have any of these opportunities, please share what would have helped you as a student. If you were to start from scratch and enroll in a Nursing Program, what would you do differently. Feel free to share this post, add your answers in the comments or message me personally. Thank you! #academicsuccessworkshops #lifeskillsworkshops #careerworkshops #professionaldevelopment #tutoring #youtubefornursing

You might be surprised to know that nursing schools themselves are contributing to the nursing shortage. According to the nursing college association... Nursing schools are grappling with a need to fill nearly 2,000 full-time faculty positions. Almost 8% of these teaching roles remaining vacant. But the challenge doesn't stop there. Part-time faculty and clinical educators (who also play a vital role in nursing education) are in short supply as well. 🏫 These educators are crucial for training the next generation of nurses, and their scarcity only worsens the nursing shortage. So, the very institutions tasked with preparing our future nursing workforce are themselves struggling to find the educators needed to bridge the gap. ..... #athomehealthcare #healthcare #healthcarelayoff #caringbeeshealthcare

This what we do!! It is so important to help fill the gaps in our healthcare systems especially as the population demands increase. If in doubt check us out! WGU!
#Utah has fewer nurses per capita than any other state in the nation! Thank you to ABC4 Utah - Utah's CW30 (KTVX/KUCW) for spotlighting that tremendous shortfall and Western Governors University's role educating the next generation of nurses. Over the last few days, it's been a pleasure working with #ABC4's Matt Fontes and Wesley Barton to arrange and execute a series of live shots and features from inside #WGU's state-of-the-art training lab in Salt Lake City. The story they told will surely inspire many to answer the call and pursue careers in #healthcare. And big thanks to my WGU colleagues - including Cherie Lowell, Rylee Krahenbuhl MSN, RN, @Ashlyn Shoemaker, @Kimberly Burrows, and Patrick Murphy - for getting up early and helping make this project successful. And also to Kimberly Kelly-Cortez, Lauren Acree MS, RN, CPN, CHSE, and Anchal Nayyar for your valuable support. Finally - happy #NursesWeek to all the past, present, and future healthcare professionals who work to keep our communities healthy and safe!

The UNC System has awarded nearly $29 million to expand nursing education at 12 public universities and North Carolina’s Area Health Education Centers. The grants are part of a groundbreaking effort to address the nursing #workforce shortage in North Carolina. Like many states across the country, North Carolina is coping with an alarming drop in #nursing professionals. The state is projected to have a shortage of up to 18,600 registered nurses over the next decade, a major challenge for health care providers and an aging patient population. Nursing students face rigorous education and licensure requirements, which makes it challenging to quickly expand the nursing workforce. And the Great Resignation, which saw tens of millions of Americans voluntarily quit their jobs in the aftermath of the pandemic, has sharply impacted health care professions and added to the decline of working nurses. The System’s goal is to increase its output of nursing degrees by 50% over the next 10 years. Learn More: https://ow.ly/c2ml50SCyiv #NCHigherEd #UNCSystem #healthcare #nced

The Relentless School Nurse: Embracing the "Let Them" Theory: A Guide for School Nurses In recent months, I have had countless conversations with school nurse colleagues who are struggling with continuing in our profession. It has led me to seek resources to share because I am also on "the struggle bus," and seeking relief through actionable tools. My recent blog post, Cultivating "Active Hope," is part of a series of articles that focus on our well-being. Have you ever heard of the #MelRobbins "Let Them" theory? It's a powerful concept that can transform how you handle challenging relationships, particularly in a school setting. As school nurses, we often find ourselves dealing with staff or administrators who may mistreat or disrespect us. The more I grow in this profession, the more I find peace in embracing this approach in my interactions with colleagues. https://lnkd.in/epRngUup
