Last Saturday, I had the privilege of participating in the Human Towers exhibition in Tarragona with the Castellers de Paris. Human towers, or "castells," are often used as an example of high-performing teams, and this experience brought home some valuable lessons. Building a human tower requires not just the visible parts—the ones that climb the highest—but a strong base of people, working together at ground level. Without this solid foundation, the tower cannot stand, let alone rise. This resonates deeply with the work we’re doing in climate tech, particularly in our agrivoltaic startup, Folgrid. In our mission to meet the 1.5°C climate challenge, not all solutions will be as visible as the ones at the top, but the foundational efforts—like developing resilient hardware for climate adaptation and mitigation—are essential for real progress. A huge shoutout to the incredible team at Castellers de Paris for their openness, teamwork, and constant warmth in welcoming new members into the "colla." You always make me feel right at home! Highly relevant discussion hosted by Trondheim Tech Port about the future of Trondheim and Nyhavna as the ocean innovation capital of Norway. Companies leave for lack of space when they grow. How can we keep them in Trondheim? Some moments that caught my attention in this discussion: 🔑 infrastructure isn't innovation but it is the key to it 🌱Nyhavna has emerged organically as a hub for ocean innovation, why? Testing is essential, and ocean innovation companies need an aquatic playground 📈 Growing up is hard! Moving from the NTNU bubble (student start up) to a financially independent, commercial entity means less (cheap) access to existing infrastructure 🏛️ What is the city's role in shaping urban development? We need to be bolder and take risks on temporary solutions for rapid testing without beurocracy (just look at Bergen!) These are all critical points for us at F & Z Solutions as we consider where to settle down. Availability and affordability of commercial space is top of mind for us, and we hope to see Trondheim continue to grow as a hub for ocean innovation. Our collaborative RE-INCITE project, led by Wirtschaftsförderung Raum Heilbronn GmbH, has been selected as one of the 6 small-scale projects from 39 applicants to receive funding under the Interreg Alpine Space program! The project focuses on transforming industrial waste into valuable secondary materials, helping reduce CO₂ emissions and decrease dependence on raw resources. We are doing so by empowering clusters to support municipalities in creating and implementing circular economy (CE) value chains across the Alpine region, alongside our project partners COMET – Cluster della Metalmeccanica del FVG, Business Upper Austria - OÖ. Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH, Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH, and Wirtschaftsförderung Raum Heilbronn GmbH. The best part of my job at ACR+ | Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable Resource management is supporting cities and regions in finding practical solutions to implement circular economy.
