The 2023 State of Food and Agriculture unveils the importance of understanding patterns of Hidden Cost of Agrifood systems. The said costs encompasses elements such as climate change, natural resource degradation and unaffordability of healthy diets.  The report points out the new True Cost Accounting (TCA) methodology that helps to depict elements of the hidden cost. For instance, the report highlights that the global quantified hidden costs of agrifood systems were approximately 12.7 trillion 2020 PPP dollars in 2020.    #zerohunger #agrifoodsystems #resilience #foodandnutrition

#SDGWeek2024: Under the SDG Challenge Call 2024, Research Ireland and Irish Aid are seeking solutions that contribute to SDG 2: Zero Hunger, “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”. Applications will be considered that contribute towards one or more of the five SDG 2 outcome targets; improving access to food, ending all forms of malnutrition, enhancing agricultural productivity, sustainable food production and resilient agricultural practices, and maintaining genetic diversity of food production.
