💧 Nuclear technology is revolutionizing how we tackle water scarcity! By leveraging the power of nuclear energy, we can efficiently desalinate seawater, transforming it into clean drinking water for arid and drought-prone regions. This process is not only eco-friendly but also capable of producing large quantities of fresh water, essential for sustainable development. Embracing this technology means securing water resources for future generations while minimizing environmental impact. 🌍

With the rise of AI comes the need for more energy for data centers. Currently ~80% of energy consumed in the US is non renewable and Green House Gas generating. What that means is that with current energy mix our thirst for AI will accelerate the the production of Green House Gases which powers the drastic Climate changes happening around us. This is a interesting article regarding big tech embracing nuclear as a clean energy source to power data centers. The DOE anticipates a 3x increase in nuclear energy demands by 2050 due to its ability to provide 24/7 carbon-free power within a compact footprint. https://lnkd.in/gGsXqzSX Simon Bennett Marcus Carano Rick Pastore Ben Saunders Brad McAllister Rainer Karcher Joe Panettieri

President Trump on AI's energy needs and a nuclear solution: "To be successful, to be a leader in AI, the amount of electricity they need, it's like double and even triple what we have right now." "It's incredible how much they need to be the leader, and we're going to have to be able to do that." Summary: -- to be the world leader in AI, the US has to 2-3x its energy capacity -- in order to do that, we need to rethink our energy strategy -- plan: spend less on "artificial, weak energy", spend more on firing up our plants, clean coal, and nuclear -- re: nuclear, need a better strategy than massive $20B+ projects that waste billions + years -- idea: build smaller, less expensive reactors that can be up and running faster

There is a transformation going on under our noses in the flyover states, and I worry that the #scientificenterprise is not giving it enough attention. More than 1000 communities have applied for just a few dozen spots as NSF's Innovation Engines, Commerce's Tech Hubs, and DOE's Hydrogen Hubs. This urge to be part of tech-driven regional economic transformation calls for attention to the task of social transformation--something the US did pretty well before WW2.
“What do nuclear fusion power plants, artificial intelligence, hydrogen infrastructure, and drinking water recycled from human waste have in common?” Lisa Margonelli looks at the intense public engagement that these technologies require to choose among technological tradeoffs, safety profiles, and economic configurations.

🌍💡 The Future of Data Centers: Exploring Nuclear Power Data centers are shifting towards cleaner, more sustainable energy. One exciting development? The potential use of nuclear power! ⚡️ 🔹 Colocation 101: Companies rent space, power, and cooling from third-party providers, saving costs and resources without building their own data centers. 🔹 Why Nuclear Power?: Reliable and low carbon, nuclear power uses fission reactions to generate electricity without greenhouse gases. It's efficient and meets 24/7 energy needs. 🔹 Pros: Lower Emissions: Cuts carbon footprint significantly. Reliable Energy: Stable, uninterrupted power. Cost Savings: Long-term savings on operational costs. 🔹 Challenges: Regulations: Complex and strict. Public Opinion: Addressing safety and waste concerns. Waste Management: Need for effective solutions. Balancing innovation and responsibility, nuclear power could be a game-changer for sustainable data centers. Let’s work towards a greener, resilient future! 🌱🚀 Explore more on our website: https://lnkd.in/eptFHc_v

🆒 Energia ✅ Get ready for nuclear mini-batteries ⚠️🆒 Considering the recent legislation developments in US, expect more interesting news in the nuclear sector. Is clear to me that the electric car technology -even if cool as it is- it did not really passed the market test in the true sense of economics, without subsidies it is just way too expensive. It will be replaced with something more energy efficient (and cleaner life cycle), and that could be hydrogen based (maybe even water, to me makes more sense) or nuclear, basically something with abundant energy potential. Of course there are several more other options that are covered but patents under Energy Sector, but those for certain security reasons are still not public; nevertheless, with AI booming, I do expect more breakthrough in the Energy sector, and is so exciting ! (just search for Zero Point Energy, Artificial Sun, Gravity Well, …) But like in the Petroleum Industry (that dominated now for more than a century the energy sector by squashing all other energies alternatives, with very few exceptions), and in the hands of ‘just a few’, is humanity able to give the Energy freedom to People with those new opportunities? ⚠️ For fun, expect say ‘Tesla nuclear’ in less than 5-10 years, and is a good thing 🚀👨🚀

The Bloomberg article features John Pettigrew, the CEO of National Grid Plc, discussing the challenges and strategies involved in transitioning to greener energy sources in the U.S. and U.K. : Green Transition: Pettigrew emphasizes the importance of building new power lines to support electrification and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. He compares this effort to the significant infrastructure investments made during the Victorian era in Britain. AI Power Needs: The conversation touches on the increasing power demands from artificial intelligence technologies. Pettigrew addresses concerns about whether nuclear fusion is necessary to meet these demands, ultimately suggesting that it is not a critical solution.
