Did you know that B-BBEE is crucial to fostering economic transformation in South Africa? B-BBEE aims to address historical inequalities by promoting the inclusion of previously disadvantaged individuals in business activities. It enhances opportunities for black-owned enterprises, stimulates job creation, and cultivates a more equitable society. Embracing B-BBEE isn't just a compliance requirement; it's a fundamental step towards building a fairer and more prosperous future for all South Africans. - M Achary #Izala #YellowBrickArmy #bbbee #jointventures #compliance #EME #QSE #Generic #verification #ethicaltransformation

People working in development and humanitarian action have often made value-driven career choices to do what they do. They believe they are doing good 'out there in the world'. So, it can come as a nasty surprise when they are challenged by evidence of racism and coloniality underpinning both the development and humanitarian sectors. Or evidence of the uneven distribution of power within inter-racial teams and between organisations. And how Eurocentrism, colourism and power asymmetries distort strategy development and goal setting - and every step of projects and programmes from design through implementation to ex post evaluation. These aren't vague issues that you can leave for someone else to deal with. If you work in development or humanitarian action, it is your responsibility to make changes too. But how? The Development Hub's confronts these challenges head-on. Our Skill Share Programme provides participants with confidence and skills to change their professional practice. It identifies entry points for 🎯 the personal transformation and improved team working, 🎯 decolonised partnerships and organisations 🎯 for radical change in the development and humanitarian ecosystem. Our core team will introduce each module and expert guest speakers (including Allan Moolman from Oxfam GB and Lena B. from Bond UK) will share case studies and lessons from their practical experience. Have you read the new #PEACE22 research study yet? ❓ The purpose of this research 🔎 is to understand whether there is a space for social and solidarity economy organisations to support the creation of sustainable peace. Based on the definition of Johan Galtung, sustainable or positive peace requires putting in place, alongside the emergency response, long-term strategies to properly address the underlying causes of conflicts and identify shared, sustainable solutions that can favour systemic change and ensure social and economic inclusion and fair opportunities for all. ✨You can read the full text here: https://lnkd.in/ewEHM3yc The #PEACE22Project aims at empowering #Lithuanian and #European organisations working with #migrants to build their capacity to promote #SocialInclusion and integration in the labour market, by facilitating inter-community dialogue and ensuring #upskilling of the participants♻️ Diesis Network | Lithuanian Social Business Association #InternationalMigrantDay

How to make Davos and #WEF more inclusive and empower the underserved? I met Fleur Hudig, Head of Corporate Citizenship at NN Group, at The Equality Lounge in #Davos to advance #EconomicOpportunitiesforAll. Economic Opportunities for All is an inclusive initiative founded by NN Group. The goal of Junior Achievement with this initative is to make sure no-one is left behind. This is especially important during this moment of transformation of the education and the economy. JA Europe #WEF24 #wef2024 #worldeconomocforum24 #worldeconomicforum2024 #worldeconomocforum #gen_e

Together with representatives of other countries, we had a fruitful conversation with the President of the Republic of Mordovia which has sparked a call to action for sustainable development in Africa and the world at large. If all countries had the same concentration as developed countries, there would be around three-times growth. Imagine if the entire world had the same concentration as the top six developed countries, there would be more than five-times higher global growth in all sectors of the world’s economy and livelihood. Let's work together towards sustainable development and inclusion for all. #SustainableDevelopment #Inclusion #GlobalGrowth

Feeling valued by your team and your organisation is crucial to #performance. People of colour (#POC) working in the #development and #humanitarian sectors report experiencing #racism than devalues their contribution and thwarts their professional contribution. Being an #inclusive employer means listening and providing all your staff the opportunity to deliver at their highest level of professionalism and creativity. This sounds simple, but it isn't, as #Eurocentrism and #power asymmetries often get in the way. Internalised scripts around colour #hierarchies and #culture can leave some members of staff experiencing #microaggressions and #gaslighting. And rules and procedures only go so far. Personal transformation where people take responsibility for their own internalised #racism, #colourism and #Eurocentrism is important. Guided processes that enable #inclusion and take a #participatory approach to setting organisational direction can enable transformatory #change. Ajoy Datta talks to me and Dr. Nompilo Ndlovu (Ph.D) on our #podcast about the approach he uses based on #actionlearning and a #psychodynamic understanding of how people behave in teams and groups. A fascinating and #radical approach that embeds #antiracist and #decolonising action right in the heart of #organisations. #decolonise #decolonize #dei #deij #actionresearch #participation #psychdynamic #podcast #strategy #organisationalchange #localize #localise Dr. Nompilo Ndlovu (Ph.D), Ajoy Datta, Rutendo Nyaku, Mary Ana McGlasson, Faye Ekong SHRM Senior Certified Professional
⁉ How do you show your colleagues you value them? Different people will answer in different ways. But being listened to and having their contribution acknowledged and taken seriously is high on many people's lists. One way of doing this is through active listening - and feeding ideas and lesson-learning into organisation-wide learning and change. This is something that Ajoy Datta does. He applies #ActionLearning approaches to #organisationalchange. Particularly around #inclusion and how people work in #teams together, but also in setting #strategy and influencing #policy. Listen to our podcast where Ajoy describes his work and links it to #antiracist and #decolonising action. Embracing Change: In the journey of progress, it's essential to acknowledge that some aspects of African culture, while once effective, may no longer serve us in today's world. Different times call for different approaches, and learning to embrace change is key to our collective advancement. 🌍💡 While many aspects of African culture are undeniably beautiful, clinging to outdated practices hinders progress. Embracing change doesn't mean erasing our heritage but rather evolving and adapting to meet the needs of a modern world. 🌟🌱 The older generation plays a crucial role in creating a safe space for the youth to embrace new ideas and perspectives. Let's foster a culture of less judgment and more acceptance, where terms like "rebellious" are replaced with "innovative." Together, we can propel Africa forward into a brighter future. 🚀 #EmbraceChange #AfricanCulture #Equality #Innovation #Progress #GenerationalDialogue

I share the same viewpoint with Dr Akinwumi Adesina that millions of young Africans have a lot of potential and opportunities to ignite a new age of inclusive prosperity on the continent. However, to carefully cultivate their potential, they need to be empowered and supported by various actors and stakeholders, such as the #governments, the private sector, the civil society, and the international community. Some Of The Ways To cultivate the potential of young Africans are: • Providing quality #education and skills development, that are relevant and responsive to the market needs and the sustainable development goals (#SDGs). • Creating decent and inclusive #employment and #entrepreneurship opportunities, that are aligned with the young people's aspirations and talents. • Enhancing participation and representation in decision-making and governance, that is respectful and inclusive of the young people's voices and perspectives. • Investing in #health and well-being, that are accessible and affordable for young people, especially the vulnerable and marginalized groups. #WeSpeakAgriculture #AfricanAgricGiant #AkinwumiAdesina #AfricanDevelopmentBank
