Have you seen it yet? 🚛 The EcoDuo pilot project has started in Germany! 🌍 The concept version of the new EcoDuo – a vehicle combination of two standard semi-trailers connected to a dolly – is now being tested, both on the road and on rail, across Germany. We are very excited about this! At the beginning of September, a consortium of German and Spanish companies, under the leadership of the Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) e.V., launched a one-year pilot project to optimise the pre- and on-carriage performance of combined transport. The aim is to reduce the CO2 footprint in the supply chain. "With the cooperation of all partners involved, we have created a broad basis for this pilot project. This is a good starting point for a high level of general acceptance. With the EcoDuo, we are underlining our European focus, as it complies with current standard dimensions and can be used in intermodal transport, for example by rail, without any problems. We therefore see the EcoDuo as an ecologically and economically efficient transport solution throughout Europe," says Andreas Schmitz, CEO of Schmitz Cargobull. The EcoDuo will be used to transport goods between the VW plant, in Wolfsburg, and the MegaHub, in Lehrte. The semi-trailers will then be transported to Spain by rail in a climate-friendly manner. We’re delighted to announce that Formula E will reduce Season 11 freight emissions by 25% - saving approximately 5,500 tons of carbon dioxide - by working with its Official Founding and Logistics Partner, DHL, to optimise air freight and shift a significant portion to ocean freight. The ambitious modal shift initiative represents one of the single most impactful steps to reduce the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s emissions since inception, while maintaining its pathway to net zero emissions.   To deliver such an impressive optimisation in freight, Formula E’s internal tech and logistics team worked directly with key partners including DHL, Tata Communications, FIA – Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, ABB, EMG / Gravity Media, TimelineTV, Aurora Media Worldwide, Quentor, MRTC Ltd (Midlands Radiotelephone Centre Ltd), ADI and Al Kamel Systems S.L.. Julia Pallé, Vice President Sustainability, Formula E, said: “We’re proud to take our sustainability credentials and commitment to reducing our overall emissions to the next level. A huge amount of work has been undertaken by our partners alongside the team at DHL, so we can continue to reduce our emissions year on year. Workshop "Next Door" In late September, the Esgian Shipping team took a roadtrip down South to visit our first Automotive OEM clients - Volvo Cars and Polestar at the latter's cool headquarters just outside Gothenburg. While digital tools are great, nothing really beats F2F meetings right? Very good discussions on how we can further improve and refine our unique Esgian Shipping Suite for RoRo to meet the demands of global automotive OEMS. A special "tackar" to Alexandra Odbjer for orchestrating the workshop with common discussions and breakout rooms - even virtual post-its 😉 Simen and Stian returned back North (in a Polestar of course...) with lots of good feedback, so stay tuned for many exciting new features and improvements to come - both in terms of commercial analytics and CO2 emission benchmarking and reporting. #collaboration #shipping #partnerships #automotive #transparency #decarbonization #roro #pctc #supplychain

When you think Formula 1, eco-friendly and low environmental impact don’t typically come to mind. However, #F1 is trying to change that mentality by showing teams, promoters, engine manufacturers, partners, and fans that going green doesn’t mean sacrificing innovation or speed. They have been taking big strides in their sustainability strategy and it starts, by partnering with #DHL, the pioneer and leader of green logistics.
