50 Years in Business – The IAA – International Trade Fair (Post 36 of 50) With less than two weeks to go to this year’s IAA TRANSPORTATION International Trade Fair, we are busy preparing for what has become Europe’s largest commercial vehicle exhibition. Maple is delighted to be exhibiting once again at the prestigious road transport event, taking place in Hannover between 17th – 22nd September. The IAA has over 125 years of history, developing over the years from a simple product show, to become a fully integrated trade fair, covering the entire value-added chain for mobility, transport and logistics. It is not just the show itself that has evolved during that time – so too has organised criminal activity, which continues to blight European supply chains. To meet this challenge, Maple work closely with operators to advance our own security offering, ensuring our product range meets the requirements of today’s modern logistics operators. Registration & slot booking in advance Register your vehicles online for access to the exhibition centre. Book time slots for loading and unloading. Add the drivers' details to your booking – they will be informed of the planned call-off via e-mail and/or SMS. 2. On-site check-in for drivers Upon arrival at the lorry parking area, the drivers register at the designated areas and receive a confirmation for the booked time slot with directions to the relevant loading yard. 3. Driving in & loading or unloading At the booked time, the drivers will receive a call (SMS/personal call) to enter the exhibition centre. After loading or unloading in the time slot, the vehicles check out and leave the venue. "Are trade fairs still worth it?" Today I spent the day at the #hm24 Hannover trade fair, and the answer is a clear "YES!". The arguments are - it's out of the personal "bubble": there's news which won't reach you via the digital channels, which is worth it - it connects to people. Personal contact is always stronger as just a tile in your video stream, live speaker impress more than a canned video stream. - it's inspires. From great ideas like the bionic bee (which actually flies around) to an impression what's state of the art down do practical hacks for everyday work. And: it was not that crowded as expected.

As car ownership in Britain reached an all-time high of 35.7 million vehicles last year – and adding to that record an ever growing number of zero emission vehicles on our roads – new opportunities abound for aftermarket businesses to provide cutting-edge parts and servicing solutions here in the UK. But doing business overseas also promises great potential with rising demand for aftermarket products as global mobility grows. British firms are seeking to exploit these opportunities as Automechanika Frankfurt made clear this week with more than a hundred UK exhibitors and a sold-out UK Pavilion hosted by SMMT.
