Week 4 learning #MOOC #Cartography #Esri It was about labeling and compositions on a map. 1. Created a street map of New York with refined label placements and a layout of the same. Learn techniques of labeling that are beyond the defaults. 2. Worked with label classes and advanced label settings. 3. Created a map of proportional labels for 2016 US elections by putting together the ideas of thematic maps and labeling. Also got introduced to Arcade Expressions in ArcGIS Pro, which allows us to control many aspects of symbology by creating scripted expressions.

I know ArcMap, as well as other open source apps, inside out, but this is my first map using ArcGIS Pro. I explored much of the ArcGIS Pro user interface, including the ribbon, the Catalog pane, the Contents pane, and detailed property panes for symbology, labeling, and layout elements. I have worked with a map, layers, and a layout within a project. I also learnt how to symbolize and label layers, some basic symbol editing and label placement techniques, and how to work with color. I went beyond the defaults by setting a map projection and a reference scale and establishing symbol layer drawing. Great experience #GIS #Cartography #MOOC #Esri #ArcMap #ArcGISPro

I'm constantly absorbing new information and refining my abilities to use QGIS. Whether it's through analyzing spatial data, receiving feedback, or incorporating new techniques from the latest research, I'm always striving to improve and learn this powerful tool. Hence, this time I am trying to gain more insight into the terrain surrounding Mount Fuji. It looks beautiful in pictures though. I used digital elevation models (DEMs), which are particularly useful in this regard. The raster terrain analysis tool of QGIS has powerful algorithms that helped me achieve my goal. Hillshades, angle of inclination, and shaded relief of the model. Finally, to add more depth, I tried my hands on 3D contours and expressions to paint and give this model a good look. #QGIS, #TerrainAnalysis, #Geospatial, #DEM
