Established in 2019, Livestock Information Ltd was created as a joint venture between industry and government to provide a digitally enabled traceability service for recording livestock movements in England. The digital traceability application is called the Livestock Information Service (or LIS for short) which provides a single sign on platform for livestock keepers and those in the supply chain to report livestock movements, currently for sheep, goat and deer. Later this year, there are plans for the cattle traceability service currently provided by the British Cattle Movement Service (BCMS) to move to LIS as part of a new upgraded service for cattle keepers.
