Thanks to my co-authors Drs. Chris Scanlon and Brandon Passano for their excellent efforts and to Ira Kirschenbaum MD for the shout out on Corin Group’s #OmniBotics #BalanceBot and on their use in making Valgus TKR easier. I think the next great leap forward will be when years of Data that have been collected and interrogated by our “learning machines” so the Ai system would recommend the best fix for the particular deformity and stability pattern the patient has. And all this completed in about an hour without the use and radiation burden of preop CT or the expensive costs of MRI scans . #Bonemorphing doesn’t get all the accolades it deserves but a 20% penetration into the robotic assisted total knee market would save billions of dollars to our healthcare budget while improving outcomes for the vast majority of patients and surgeons. There aren’t many winners like this in medicine today, a new system that actually cost healthcare less and performs better. I have a true individualized functional alignment philosophy now but no matter your current alignment philosophy you can use this #OmniBotics system or its latest release and evolution forward to the #Apollo System to precisely carry out your planned cases… No matter the pre-op CPAK classification.

🌟Communicating research🌟 PhD and physiotherapist Anne Gro Heyn Faleide presented her work at ESSKA - European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy in Milan. Her study aimed to investigate if patients' preoperative goals before ACL reconstruction and established postoperative measure of success (return to pre-injury sport at pre-injury level) cohered. Her main findings were: 🚶♀️ 35% of patients had goals other than returning to pre-injury sport at the pre-injury level before surgery. 🎯 Measuring return to sport based on these adjusted goals showed an 8% higher "success rate" compared to using the traditional measure. 📉 Patients with adjusted goals had lower KOOS QoL scores compared to those who returned to pre-injury sport and level. 📌 Future measures for successful return to sport after ACLR should consider individual goal adjustments as 1 out of 3 patients do not plan to return to their pre-injury level of play. #esska #STARgroup #research #ACL

We're excited to share that the esteemed surgeons at the Center for Disc Replacement at Texas Health Center for Diagnostics and Surgery, Dr. Jessica Shellock, Dr. Richard Guyer, Dr. Jack Zigler, and Dr. Scott Blumenthal, along with our dedicated researcher, Dr. Donna Ohnmeiss, have co-authored yet another article on total disc replacement. This is an insightful article, titled "Lumbar Total Disk Replacement Device Removals and Revisions," drawing from 20 years of experience with 2141 patients. Their work showcases the safety and durability of lumbar total disc replacements. Orthopedics this Week recently highlighted this research study and the author noted, “this is, frankly, the best longitudinal data from THE top disc arthroplasty center in the United States, if not globally.” Dr. Guyer shared, “I think the most important finding of this paper is the fact that the longevity of the lumbar artificial disc far exceeds what we thought when we first started doing these over 24 years ago.” Read the abstract to learn more about their groundbreaking findings! https://lnkd.in/gpEHSmD3

Arthroplasty is an operation to restore motion to a joint and function to the muscles, ligaments, and other soft tissue structures that control the joint. Preoperative planning is essential to prevent instability in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and is an important part of the surgical procedure. The technical goals of preoperative planning for total knee arthroplasty are to achieve accurate prosthetic seating with proper axial alignment. In our hospital, we perform both 2D and 3D preoperative planning for every patient undergoing TKA surgery. In this article, I will share how we conduct 2D preoperative planning using standard X-ray images, utilizing orthopedic digital planning software SYNAPSE OP-A, Fujifilm Medical Co., Ltd.
