As I know we all have young adults leaving college for their 1st career and engagement into the real world, I thought I would post for all to utilize to have the conversation with them as they transition. As it is exciting to be starting careers and life, the workforce is more dynamic and diverse than ever before. Discussing the topics below and having them think thru how they believe they would react, engage and navigate would be a 1st step to awareness for a successful future. It shouldn't be IF they encounter any of the topics, but when they do. 🌨️ Calling All Military Snow Sport Enthusiasts! 🎿 I’m excited to share a project I created for military members that love snow sports. If you’re in the military and you love snow sports, this might just be the tool you didn’t know you needed! 📍 What is it? It’s a dynamic map I built in ArcGIS that overlays live CONUS snow depth (updated every 5 minutes), with the locations of U.S. military bases, and ski resorts with data for each layer. ❄️ Why did I make this? While stationed in Alaska, I fell in love with snow sports. When it came time to PCS, I wanted an easy way to evaluate potential duty stations based on their proximity to skiing and snow. That’s how this map was born. 🗺️ How to Use It: 1️⃣ Open the map (it starts in Northern California) and you will see blue hues for snow depth and lime green symbols for military bases. 2️⃣ Zoom in to explore the layers and see nearby ski resorts. 3️⃣ Click on a ski resort or military base symbol for detailed information. 4️⃣ Close the “Layers” panel on the left, then open the “Legend” in the black sidebar. This lets you see snow depth (in inches) and understand the other map features. My wife and I used this map to help choose a stateside duty station, and it made the decision process so much smoother.
