We are now 12 days into 2024, so please save an archivist’s life (or at least what remains of our sanity) and try to remember to write “2024” instead of “2023” on your documents. We know it’s not easy to break the habit and we make this mistake, too. When we process collections, it may be clear that the author intended to write a different date (there are definite clues), but we can't change it. Where do we put it in the collection? It's clearly meant to be in 2024, but it might have a 2023 date. Save us the hassle, and put in the correct date!
