Reflection on Infocracy’s Far-Reaching Implications for Global Higher Education In a world where massive information can hypothetically be controlled by a powerful minority, there is a risk of manipulating the masses and silencing the voices of marginalized and deprived individuals. This poses a significant challenge for international higher education, which typically aims to enhance equity by leveling the uneven educational terrains found across nations and providing expanded access to quality educational opportunities. Great book review by Kyuseok Kim. It offers us some critical views of society on what we do, how we act and what we believe to be true. #infocracy #globaleducation #globalcitizenship #internationaleducation #tne #universities

Measuring #Societal #Impact of Universities: Read this Paper on How we can Do this! Universities and staff are quick to ask students and funders to provide salaries and other resources to us for education and research. We say to them (implicitly or explicitly) that we will create value for them. We are poor at consistently and effectively communicating to them how we have created value for them. This very short paper explains in clear language (I hope) how universities can start a conversation with staff and communities about: * What Societal Impact means for them * How it could be measured * How much time and resources we will commit to measuring and communicating value Thanks to my wonderful colleagues Olga Ryazanova and Tatiana Andreeva for including me in this research team and to Times Higher Education for publishing this piece in the THE Campus Conversation: https://lnkd.in/eXfrn6uH #impact #measurement #education #research #universities #community #society #funders #socialimpact #societalimpact #maynoothuniversity #value #legitimacy #consultation #commonground #meaning #bottomupstrategy

October is National Economic Education Month! #EconEdMonth How are you, your family, and your employees planning on celebrating? "Educators, families, and community leaders can promote economic education in many ways: 😃Families can have conversations about how they make decisions for their home. 😃 Teachers may invite community and business leaders to visit their students to share how their decision-making process compares to families making choices every day. 😃 Business and government leaders can reach out to educators to offer help in promoting quality economic education in schools. 😃 Teachers should visit their state council web site to learn about economics competitions or register for a workshop or webinar. 😃 Use #EconEdMonth to join the conversation and share your experiences with economic education."
