The theme of this year’s Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting and Exposition, Oct. 14-16, is "Transforming for a Complex World," highlighting the Army’s efforts to transform, modernize and restructure for the future fight. Visit Ben Sharfi and Chris A. Ciufo at General Micro Systems booth 8407. ‘Transformation’ evokes changing from something…into something. The Army is doing several things all in parallel. In our recent lifetime, it was required to fight two simultaneous wars, tooled up to deal with the asymmetric warfare of Iraq and Afghanistan, and now recognizes that the main battle tank ground war they thought was obsolete now looks very real due to the war in Ukraine. Sprinkle in the force multiplier of UAVs and the plethora of modern AI and high-rate comms/sensors at the edge: maybe ‘transformation’ isn’t a big enough word. At AUSA, GMS will show our third year of the exponentially-evolving X9 Spider small form factor distributed computing architecture ecosystem. We showcase actual on-battlefield X9 applications, including portable EW in the palm of your hand, and an airborne cross-domain system (3 domains) based entirely on X9 off-the-shelf modules. GMS’ experience with cyber applications is presented and additions to our SecureDNA™ enclave suite are revealed. If the Army needs available-right-now! transformative technologies: GMS is the place to visit first. Again, we'll be in Booth 8407. [#TrustedIntelligenceServingtheArmedForces: Thales at #Eurosatory2024 : #ENGAGE] ➡ The #combat zone is an area of direct confrontation where, in a context of high intensity, you have to understand, decide and act faster than the enemy to gain the upper hand. All types of #intelligence are involved, first and foremost #humanintelligence 🧠, which relies on #artificialintelligence and #systemsintelligence as decision-making tools. ➡ The foundation on which these intelligent interactions are built is resilient #connectivity, enabling action on the battlefield as well as in intangible fields (#cyber and #electronicwarfare). #Contact combat is carried out by manned platforms and automated systems, whose capabilities are enhanced by their networking in a collaborative combat system. #Dismounted combatants are at the heart of the action, and benefit from the best equipment to protect them and carry out their missions. #Firesupport systems preserve melee units by engaging enemy forces as far away as possible. 👉 The combination of these 3 types of Intelligences enables Thales to offer forces high-performance solutions based on the most advanced #technologies, in all sectors of contact combat and in depth. This accelerates the #OODA (#Observe, #Orient, #Decide, #Act) loop, enabling land forces to achieve tactical superiority and strategic independence. 🔜 Stay tuned for our next post dedicated to Intelligence for #Command ! 👉 To learn more while waiting for the show, visit our #Eurosatory dedicated website: https://lnkd.in/eAQ98Vn8 and have a look on our "carrousel" below 👇. Exploring the Future of Warfare: Laser-Directed Energy Weapons This is a post from my Foresight Navigator Substack publication, where we explore early signs of potentially significant changes. In this post, I've used my Foresight Navigator GPT, available in the OpenAI store, to transform an article from DSTL titled "Advanced future military laser achieves UK first" into a strategic foresight signal of change. This is not about predicting the future but preparing for potential shifts in society, technology, and organizations. If you have articles you'd like transformed into signals of change, feel free to send them my way. #strategicforesight #gptstore #gpt #defenceinnovation

Today in Asia Times, I wrote about China's claim to have developed a new military surveillance device powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This device, characterized by its compact size, high efficiency, and low power consumption, marks a significant leap in electronic warfare capabilities. It enables the Chinese military to monitor, decode, and suppress enemy signals with unprecedented speed and efficiency. It's designed to operate across a broader spectrum of frequencies, extending into the gigahertz range. It could compromise even the most covert communications, including those intended to remain hidden within civilian frequency bands. The article also explores the broader implications of such technology on modern warfare, particularly in the context of "transparent battlefields," a concept highlighted by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This new era of warfare, defined by the near-total visibility of opposing forces due to advanced surveillance and precision weaponry, challenges traditional military doctrines and necessitates reevaluating tactics and strategies. The Chinese device's purported ability to process vast amounts of data in real-time could nullify the advantages of stealth and surprise, fundamentally altering the dynamics of future conflicts and introducing a new paradigm where electronic and information warfare becomes a decisive factor.

One shot, one hit. The BRAVE1 cluster is looking for a solution that will improve the operational precision of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. We need technological development to allow the Defense Forces to conduct operations against the enemy with increased accuracy, efficiency, and minimal losses. That is why we are launching the Precision hackathon. Main directions: ▪️ Advanced guidance systems ▪️ Sensor integration and real-time data analysis ▪️ Smart munitions that can adjust its trajectory in flight ▪️ Simulators and training software ▪️ Autonomous and semi-autonomous systems ▪️ Network-centric warfare tools Ukrainian and foreign developers, engineers, military, scientists, students, startups, and others ready to join the fight can participate. The hackathon will be held in three stages, including field testing. Register before June 8 and strengthen the defenders with your technologies so that every shot finds its target: https://lnkd.in/eBdRkJaJ

In a world where so much data is available satellite data needs to be trained to use data efficiency and effectively. Trusted AI is the way to achieve this.
"Sovereign communication and satellite capabilities are core to the security of European nations. The European satellite constellation IRIS², however, risks being outdated before it even launches. We believe that AI needs to be at the core of every new satellite constellation to reliably function and stay relevant and protected for years to come. European governments have shown they can adapt, act and achieve state-of-the-art defence. Now is the time to adapt IRIS².” - General Denis Mercier, member of the board of directors at Helsing, and Marc Fontaine, CEO of Helsing France, on the need to incorporate AI into the new European satellite constellation IRIS².
