Development of 100% affordable housing on former school site has been secured in Bangor, Gwynedd. The scheme is part of Gwynedd Council's Tŷ Gwynedd project to develop high quality, sustainable, energy efficient and affordable shared equity housing for local people. It will assist in meeting the substantial need for affordable homes in the city. The site is accessible, and the scheme has been designed to a high standard to complement surrounding development.   The Axis team assisted in the final discussions and decision stage, following the move of Senior Consultant Jamie Bradshaw from Owen Devenport Ltd to Axis.   Said Jamie, "This development shows Gwynedd Council’s clear commitment to tackle housing needs by providing a high quality development of shared equity housing in the heart of Bangor. It also makes use of a vacant previous developed site, and has been designed to complement the housing set around it. Topping out ceremony marks milestone in Hayes Town Centre Regeneration A significant milestone has been reached in the regeneration of Hayes Town Centre, where a topping out ceremony was held to celebrate the highest structural point of construction in the first phase of two major developments. Delivered by Higgins Partnerships in collaboration with Hillingdon Council, these developments are set to transform the heart of Hayes Town Centre and Avondale Drive, delivering much-needed housing and public spaces to the community. The first phase includes 110 new homes, with 80 homes located at Hayes Town Centre and an additional 30 properties at Avondale Drive. Once fully completed, the two developments will provide a minimum of 740 new homes across social rent, shared ownership and private sale tenures. The delivery of affordable homes has been prioritised in the programme, helping to address local housing needs promptly. Declan Higgins, Chief Executive Officer at Higgins Group said, “We are delighted to reach this important milestone at Hayes Town Centre. Most train stations within the North Shore are currently surrounded by low density housing, presenting a notable opportunity to increase density close to public transport. Changes to the typology of housing is no small feat; it is essential that all views are heard on this topic to support balanced outcomes, regardless of the locality. Whilst not as simple as bricks and mortar, transit-orientated development when done right can create hubs that are vibrant and well-connected, with diverse housing options to suit a range of lifestyles.

The Vancouver School Board (VSB) has awarded a 99-year lease to a private developer, which is set to build a mixed-use commercial and rental building on school property after paying $8.5 million for the space, reported the CBC. "It comes a little over two months after the board first moved to hand over 1.6 hectares of "surplus" land, just south of Sir Sandford Fleming Elementary School in East Vancouver, to Vittori Developments Ltd. Major Holt Town regeneration programme proceeds following public consultation Manchester City Council’s executive will be asked to approve the ambitious plans to transform Holt Town into a new woodland town in the city of Manchester at a committee meeting next week (Weds 22 January 2025), following positive feedback from comprehensive public consultation last year.  Holt Town is a major regeneration opportunity to develop a new mixed use neighbourhood, highly sustainable with thousands of new homes of different types and tenures – from family housing through to age friendly and key worker apartments - incorporating high quality green spaces surrounding a 1km play street spine, provision of new local services, cultural opportunities, and significant affordable workspace.  Situated along the Medlock Valley between the bustling areas of Ancoats and New Islington and the dynamic zones of Sportcity and the Etihad Campus, investment in Holt Town will unlock a missing link.   The principles of development will take a carbon neutral approach and a people-first ideology that will prioritise active travel options and public transport over car use.  Consultation with local people and businesses was undertaken between August and September 2024, including online options and in-person events – as well as workshops with local school pupils from St Anne’s RC primary to develop play space ideas for the community.  The https://lnkd.in/eRKS6WtW
