One thing I like about being a shift fitter is the fast paced environment, you get to be on your toes and make decisions fast to keep production moving. But some breakdowns can bring things to a stand still for hours, this is one of the longest breakdown I've experienced ever since I started with the shifts system. #Fitter #mechanical #steelindustry #artisan #engineering

Marine Mechanical Technician (Fitter and Turner) Valid Opito Bosiet CA-EBS Valid OGUK certificate Seamans book Yellow fever
Being both a mechanical fitter and Turner (yes there is a difference. You can’t be a Turner and not a fitter but you can become a fitter with no need of being a Turner) artisan/technician/engineer is more than just loosening and fastening or cutting and machining but you need to master the skills of seeing with your ears, knowing how to feel vibrations, how much to machine off, how much to add on when shimmering and most importantly to know where and when to hit….

This may look like a simple picture with a few guys standing around looking at a car, but to us, it’s so much more. It shows how involved our managers are throughout the repair process. In this picture, there’s a manager and two frame and mechanical technicians discussing the damage and repair plan. It’s all a joint effort to make sure everyone is on the same page. #jointeffort #technician #repairplan #frame #mechanic #involved #management #manager #estimator #weownit #rolllikenothingeverhappened

Here is a graphic that should resolve some night mares when selecting wrenches. Performing basic mechanical jobs may require both sets. Offcourse I own both sets, however for easier operation I choose those equiped with rachet.

Safety doesn't have to be complicated | Passionate safety manager & trainer leveraging practical safety & tech | CPR Instructor | Fall Protection | OSHA 500 (Train the Trainer) | EHS Inc & Streamlined Safety Training
Many skilled craft people are looking for work. Even though there’s not enough labor to go around, I’m seeing a trend for those that possess a specific skill set looking to work with organizations who value their years of experience. It’s apparent that these individuals don’t want to go to a shop environment or even a jobsite where they are performing the same monotonous task over-and-over-and- over again. It looks like these highly skilled workers are looking for companies that value their years of experience while providing them with diversified, and interesting tasks that can be as varied as hours in the day. I had a conversation with an organization this week who’s new hires fit a unique profile. They need more workers like you with the flexibility to work a variety of jobs and perform work that makes a difference. I can put you in touch with some good people if you are a: - Welder - Pipe Fitter - Mill Wright/ Mechanic - Client Focused Mechanical Engineer Let me know if I can help you or someone in your network. Asking for a friend.
