It’s a simple idea and its been used against us for years.
Merchandising.
~ If your product can’t be seen it can’t be sold ~
If you walk down the cereal aisle and your usual sugar choco crunch puffs aren’t there you’re at risk of picking something else.
And, if you do that, you might find something you like more and never buy sugar choco crunch puffs again.
Merchandising keeps us in line.
You see similar on social platforms hence the promotion of the need to post daily.
Then you’re there, in peoples faces, getting their attention.
And today might be the right time for them to buy.
We can’t control what the big shop puts in its cereal aisle.
But, we can control what we see in our feeds. our aisles, to an extent.
Points I’m considering.
Is it making me focus on what I’ve got or what I lack and if so how does this impact me? Does it make me want to take action or just make me envious?
Is it offering me a different point of view or the same one I’ve heard a thousand times? There is always another point of view and we should know them.
Do I actually read it or just scroll on by? Even if you’re not engaging with it it’s still there, subliminally taking your attention, it’s still winning.
Maybe it’s time to do some merchandising and put something different in the aisle?
You might find something you like more.
And move out of line.
To something better.
