Why the ULTIRACER Cycling System is the Only Super-Ager Exercise System. During a 20-month clinical trial involving over 180 seniors, we discovered a significant difference between the functional roles of a bicycle's front and rear wheels. The rear wheel, connected to the pedals, improves lower-body strength and cardiovascular endurance. Meanwhile, the front wheel, controlled by the handlebars, enhances cognitive function, balance, coordination, navigation skills, and upper-body strength. This finding highlights that indoor cycling devices, which have been in use since the 1950s, primarily focus on the rear-wheel functions of a bicycle. Our focus on cycling as a super-ager exercise stems from its unique ability to protect critical joints while allowing users to balance themselves using the handlebars, cognitive skills, and body coordination, all while propelling forward through pedaling. Cycling involves simultaneous rotation of both front and rear wheels, fostering coordination training. When the rider controls the rolling front wheel via the handlebars, cognitive function, balance, and navigation skills are further enhanced. One fundamental feature of cycling is the use of the rider’s body weight as resistance during exercise. Fixed indoor cycling machines, however, support the user's body weight and artificially generate resistance, which is not beneficial for joint health, especially for seniors. ULTIRACER, on the other hand, minimizes joint impact by eliminating ground contact, making it gentler than walking. 🚴LETS COMPARE CALORIES: 🤯 So I have a pedal bike, specifically a mountain bike 24 speed and I have an 8 speed E bike with 750 W. Pretty standard by today’s specs. I’ve tracked several bike rides with each now and happy to present the data. 🚲45 MIN PEDAL BIKE RIDE: Not surprising, I travelled half the distance in 45 minutes as the e-bike, but burned almost twice the calories. 45 minutes on the pedal bike at 125 to 155 bpm depending on the hill produced 543 cal burnt. 🚴45 MIN E-BIKE RIDE: The important piece: in 45 minutes travelling near twice the speed and covering nearly twice the distance, I burned 304 cal at an average heart rate of 113 beats per minute. I purposefully used the assist more than not as 95% of people do when using their e-bike. It’s very difficult to simulate enough hard work when the electric motor is right there to use. If humans weren’t prone to the lazy route, I’d have zero clients as a nutritionist and physique coach. Too soon? ✅Conclusion: I love the e-bike for travelling to different locations like the beach and not having a big party Stripe of sweat on my ass by the time I get there. It’s a beefy booty, not much air gets in there. I use it as a commute vehicle and no way considering it as exercise. That way, I still get my workouts in and don’t rely on a motorized vehicle to trick me into thinking I’m burning enough calories. 5 reasons to consider getting a BIKE FIT! Whether you’re commuting to work or training for an Ironman, an ill-fitting bike can not only hamper your enjoyment of cycling through pain and discomfort, but it can also increase the risk of injury. Pound for pound, a high quality bike fit is one of the best investments you can make for your cycling. Here´s 5 reasons why.... 1 - Knowledge Learning about how you are interacting with the bike is the first step to making improvements. An experienced fitter can help guide you objectively through the fit process, highlighting areas of your riding and movement that may need to be addressed. This way you are better able to manage your bike position as your body changes over time. 2 - Injury prevention Cycling, although low impact, is a very repetitive sport. You are essentially locked into a relatively static position, performing the same movements over and over again, often for hours on end. A poor bike position can often lead to a rider having to make unnecessary biomechanical compensations in order to perform the task. Overuse, or perhaps, misuse of certain muscle groups can lead to pain & discomfort on the bike.
