How To Recycle School Supplies: The Ultimate Guide

Did you know that Hennepin County has grants to assist with school waste reduction and recycling? This is your opportunity to start or improve programs to divert waste from the trash! Here are some examples of equipment and supplies that are eligible for funding: • Reusable foodware to replace disposables  • Sharing table supplies  • Bulk condiment dispensers to replace single-use options The first round of grant funding will be available to two-year colleges, Head Start, preschools, and K-12 schools with at least 50% of students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Applications are due by 4pm on February 29. Applications from any K-12 school, preschool, college, or university  in the county will be accepted from March 20 through November  15 or until available funds are depleted. There is $100,000 available annually. Educate future generations about the importance of waste reduction and consider applying for a grant today! If you don’t know, here's what you need to know… We have partnered with Lumicom to make it easy for you to be compliant by recycling both the old luminaires you remove and the new Commulite luminaires you install. Everything that can be isolated and mechanically treated is placed back into the supply chain and reused. 98% of materials are recovered, such as copper, glass, plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous metal. These are called clean stream materials, many are finite materials that will run out if not recycled. https://lnkd.in/dEUwfJF
