Instructions for Use (IFUs) guide healthcare workers on how to properly clean, high-level disinfect, and sterilize reusable medical devices, such as surgical instruments and endoscopes. IFUs are often vague, confusing, or unnecessarily complicated. It is encouraging to see the Infection Control world calling for manufacturers to standardize and simplify IFUs, to improve cleaning and disinfection compliance and efficiency. This is important work for patient safety. I interpret IFUs often in my role, and would be happy to see a change!

Infection treatment with best products- Biocomposites
We’re delighted to share that our team members, Andrius Simonaitis and Pavelas Voiniusas, recently had the opportunity to participate in a key conference focused on implant-related infections organized by Associate Professor Dr. Giedrius Kvederas and Dr. Andrius Sadauskas from the VUL Santaros Klinikos Ortopedijos-Traumatologijos Centras and by Professor Dr. Andrej Trampuz, founder of the PRO-IMPLANT Foundation. This event brought together top specialists from diverse fields, offering a fantastic platform for collaboration with the medical community. 🤝 It was an excellent chance to exchange insights on innovative solutions for infection management in surgery. We were particularly proud to showcase Biocomposites products we distribute – #Stimulan® and #Genex® – which play a vital role in treating complex infectious diseases like #Osteomyelitis. We remain committed to collaborating with healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes and support advancements in infection control in surgical practices. ✨ #Biomedika #Biocomposites #InfectionControl

We MUST ALL work towards this goal. When we don't provide guidance things go off the rails. Specific example: We are just getting a handle on the exposure times and now both DRY TIMES and STORAGE are becoming the next big problem.

🗞️ CURRENT ISSUE 🗞️ Original Article Is Joint Aspiration to Rule Out Prosthetic Joint Infection Required Before Every Revision Joint Arthroplasty? Validation of Institutional Criteria using the New European Bone and Joint Infection Society definition 🦠 The authors' institutional criteria for preoperative arthrocentesis to exclude periprosthetic joint infections demonstrated very high sensitivity and negative predictive value, to correctly identify those patients at risk of having PJI while avoiding a significant number of unnecessary procedures in patients with low risk of PJI. 📚 These criteria were validated even when the EBJIS PJI definition was used, which is at the high end of the sensitivity spectrum. The team led by @Ricardo Sousa MD. PhD present a diagnostic workup that may be considered to improve sensitivity and cost-usefulness in PJI detection.
