Jaclyn Lee PhD and IHRP-MP, Sully's story was truly exceptional. One important lesson was that experienced pilots matter. There were many airlines at that time that were always looking for younger pilots to maintain their costs since the senior leadership thought that it was not hard to fly a plane that was automated. But Sully was experienced and knew exactly what to do and made the right call (within seconds) to land the plane on the Hudson River. This showed that technology could not replace years of experience.
Overall, the story of Captain Sully serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of decisive action, composure under pressure, effective communication, teamwork, and humility in leadership. These qualities are not only applicable in business settings but also in our personal lives, guiding us to navigate challenges with grace and resilience.
