Curtis brings up a great point here- TMS’s are often good at showing rate comparisons and sometimes good at showing transit time. TMS systems cannot ensure compatability with company values, alignment of goals, or ultimately that the service you are getting is going to meet your expectations. I also see them contribute to “race to the bottom” rates and the eventual commidification of a customers business. Does your business utilize a TMS? If so I would love to hear from you about how you balance the convenience and utility of these tools while not losing sight of your “hidden” needs beyond the rate and book screen!

Hot Take: Most TMS rating grids/outputs do more harm than good when it comes to helping shippers choose the best LTL carrier for their shipment.
