Today, I had the opportunity to attend a deep-dive seminar organized by Försvarsmakten, FMV - Försvarets materielverk , SME-D, The Swedish Association of Small and Medium Size Enterprises in Defense and Security , and Säkerhets- och försvarsföretagen (SOFF). The seminar covered several crucial areas, including defense service procurement, logistics, army, command systems, aerospace/space, and navy. I participated in discussions on aerospace and navy. A central message from the seminar, especially in light of the current global situation and Sweden's entrance into NATO, is the urgent need for resources. There is a significant opportunity for us in the industry to assist by providing solutions and offers that circumvent lengthy and sluggish procurement processes. It's heartening to see the Swedish Armed Forces and FMV opening their doors to the industry, a notable shift from the past's bureaucratic challenges. It's time to let go of old ways and embrace new possibilities to make swift and innovative progress. The readiness to innovate and collaborate shown at today's seminar is not only necessary but also exciting. Together, we can make a difference. US Army Partners With 3YOURMIND and Phillips Corporation, Phillips Federal Division for Advanced Manufacturing In today's dynamic #military landscape, resilient supply chains and personnel safety hinges on modernizing equipment sustainment. That's why the U.S. Army has partnered with 3YOURMIND to support the acceleration of advanced manufacturing (AdvM) and enable U.S. #armedforces to stay fully equipped for any mission. As part of its initial efforts, the U.S. Army will employ 3YOURMIND software to identify parts using AdvM techniques crucial for sustaining and maintaining personnel carriers. Up to 10,000 parts selected by the U.S. Army will undergo analysis by 3YOURMIND. This collaboration marks an extension of 3YOURMIND's ongoing commitment to supporting the United States Department of Defense building upon successful partnerships with the US Navy and the United States Marine Corps. 🚀🇺🇸 The US Navy has contracted X-Bow Systems Inc. to upgrade the energetics industrial base to support the rising demand for solid rocket motors. Five contracts totaling $60 million have been awarded to the New Mexico-based firm to support the 15-year modernization plan of Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division. “Ensuring our warfighters are prepared for any situation requires a robust organic industrial base,” X-Bow Systems CEO Jason Hundley said. “Our work to help modernize NSWC Indian Head will increase production capacity of solid rocket motors and other energetics systems to meet the growing needs of the US military.” #military #army #defense #defenseindustry #us #solidrocketmotors

A Modest Proposal to Improve Joint Professional Military Education: Military personnel should be trained to primarily examine the military instrument of power. Such an examination should be within the context of their current command or staff position and the associated missions and responsibility. While those officers need to be aware of the broader context into which their military operations will fit into, they must answer the following questions thoroughly: What can I do with my assigned forces and current authorities? What can I do with my assigned forces with additional authorities? What support can I request from another commander? What support can I offer another commander? These questions should be the focus of instruction within the JPME system. In particular, these questions can help officers at the O5 and O6 level transition from the tactical to the operational level of analysis. Such a shift in analysis is critical, as officers attending JPME should be shifting their analysis from individual unit engagements (such as a naval destroyer or a fighter squadron or a tank battalion meeting their peer on the field of battle) to fleet-level or corps-level engagements across a theater of operation. #pme #jpme #militaryeducation #dod #army #airforce #navy #marinecorp #spaceforce #acedemics #professionaleducation #officereducation

🇺🇸🇯🇵⚡️ Lockheed Martin will provide full-rate production of the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program to the US and Japan. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) awarded Lockheed a $113-million modified contract that includes a foreign military sale to its East Asian ally to receive the SEWIP Block 2 AN/SLQ-32(V)6 and AN/SLQ-32C(V)6 systems. This past week, 18 CONS had the privilege of attending SAME 2024! The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is dedicated to fostering partnerships across academia, industry, and government to solve engineering challenges. Representing Team Kadena alongside 18 CEG, we collaborated with American and Japanese vendors to address critical infrastructure needs here in Okinawa. Key topics included solutions for spalling and roofing issues, as well as future opportunities for local vendors in MACC, SABER, paving, and paint projects.
