As we observe Constitution Week, we not only reflect on the ideals of justice, liberty, and equality that form the foundation of our nation but also recognize the pressing need to extend these rights equitably to all communities. The reality is that Black, Brown, and BIPOC populations have historically been excluded from the full promise of these principles. The Constitution is a living document, and its true power is realized when we harness it to advance equity and ensure that every voice, particularly those from marginalized communities, is heard and protected. #ConstitutionWeek #JusticeForAll #BuildBackBlack #EquityInLaw #FMSGlobalStrategies #WBBA

Today we commemorate #Juneteenth, which marks the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved people were free — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. While slavery was abolished, we know that racism and inequalities persist to this day. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of the struggle for freedom, equality, and human rights. At WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, we believe businesses have an important role to play in reducing inequality and generating inclusive growth that can be enjoyed by all. Through our work with The Business Commission to Tackle Inequality, we are working to build a more just and equitable world through a shared focus on action, accountability, and ambition. Addressing inequality is both our responsibility and an opportunity for positive change. On this Juneteenth, we recommit ourselves to being allies and agents of positive change. We continue striving for a world of dignity, respect, and opportunity for all people, regardless of race. Join us in reflecting on our progress and renewing our dedication to justice, anti-racism efforts, and achieving equity. Together, we can create a more sustainable and equitable future where all can thrive.

As we approach 78 years of independence, it's crucial to reflect on the kind of freedom we're truly celebrating. Are we honoring the values of justice and equality, or are we turning a blind eye to the wrongs in our society? Freedom should never be about harming others, silencing voices, or ignoring injustices. It's time to stand up for what is right, speak out against injustices, and ensure that the freedoms we cherish are protected for everyone. #IndependenceDay #SocialJustice #FreedomWithResponsibility

Sixty years ago today, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law a cornerstone of civil rights legislation in history– the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Prior to this, the United States had been operating under Jim Crow -- state and local laws that legalized racial segregation – to marginalize African Americans by denying them the right to vote, hold jobs, become educated, live in certain neighborhoods, use public facilities like buses, bathrooms, restaurants, pools and water fountains, etc. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the beginning of formal and legalized equity and access for not only African Americans, but for racial and ethnic minorities, women and those with diverse religious beliefs. From toddlers in our Early Head Start and Head Start programs to our Foster Grandparents and everything in between, ABCD is Greater Boston and the Mystic Valley’s path to equity and access! While many gains created through the Civil Rights Act of 1964 are being challenged and ripped away, ABCD stands behind the belief in equity, opportunity and access for all. #civilrights #equity
