If you’ve been following along, you’ve likely seen our Dry Needling Series slowly populating our feed! We are back with more info! If your physical therapy utilizes dry needling during a treatment there are few things you can expect ⬇️ 1️⃣First, the PT needs to accurately identify the trigger point manually. 2️⃣Then they clean the area with alcohol before inserting the needle. There are various techniques that can be utilized once the needle is inserted which will depend on the goals of treatment. The patient may feel a twitch response when the needle is inserted. 3️⃣After treatment some patients will report immediate decrease in pain and/or improvement in mobility and/or function and others will report a little bit of soreness. 4️⃣Your therapist may prescribe specific exercises to help maintain the benefits of the treatment.
