Going right back to her childhood, with a passion for cars, watching motor racing with her dad. Ceri Bateman was proud to have worked on one of our most anticipated vehicles to come to market. The Defender tested Ceri and her team’s skills, balancing a components capability with the design elements. “It’s an exceptional car to drive, elegant and enjoyable.” She regularly visits universities using the Defender to inspire and educate the next generation of automotive creators. Graduating university as one of 3 women out of 120 students, Ceri is pleased that this is starting to change. Fantastic to see and such an inspiration! 10% of our workforce is female and we strive to ensure we can continue to grow this margin, beating the stereotypes in this sector can be hard so it’s refreshing to see such senior designers in position at blue chips like JLR being women!
Amazing to hear that Ceri is visiting universities - we need more women to start their careers in automotive so that they can rise to the top.
Fantastic! One of JLRs unsung heroes. Keep up the great work Ceri. 👏🏻👏🏻
Nice to see this Ceri. Very well done 👍
Well done Ceri, what a wonderful write up about you

2moIt's alright designing cars on cad screens but you need to think of people who have to fit components on cars on a moving track who have limited time. What looks simple on a screen might be harder to do on a track. That's why a lot of the time there are major faults or repeating faults on warranty claims of the same issues and customers are displeased dye to quality concerns.
