Just wrapped up day 1 of the #BlackHat#OSCP training! We covered network scanning & enumeration, attack methodology, reporting (everyone’s favorite! :D), and password attacks. It was a blast and the students were great.
Special thanks to Jim O'Gorman from OffSec for joining us and lending his experience and expertise!

As the football regular season gets underway, I’m starting to realize that the rigors of training camp is a lot like building a business. Let’s dive in ⤵️
Last week, I recorded this video offering up advice and inspiration to college football players who are in the thick of training camp. I spent five years playing college football– and I still get flashbacks from the dog days of camp… the 6 am runs followed by meetings and lifts and drills and more meetings until it was time to go to sleep and wake up to do it all over again. It could be brutal, and sometimes, it felt like it’d never end.
As I watch this video back, I’m consuming the content from a different context. I’m no longer a student-athlete in the middle of camp, but I am an entrepreneur entering his fourth year of business at Scarlett Creative Co. My fourth season. And in many ways– the advice I was offering is just as applicable to my situation as it is to the student-athletes’. Let’s dig deeper…
1. Rome Was Not Built in a Day
Say it louder for the people in the back!! In both football and business, growth is a process. And it isn’t always easy to be patient. When you set out to build something, part of the process is laying the foundation. It isn’t glamorous. It isn’t pretty. At times, it can be a straight-up GRIND. But that’s what it takes– day by day, rep by rep. And eventually, you’ll have created something powerful.
2. Focus Less on the Outcome
In my experience, the best athletes and the best business leaders are process-driven. That’s why we’re always talking about “HI-QUALITY” at Scarlett Creative. Just like football, it’s about controlling the controllables. We can’t always control what clients we get– but we can ensure that every piece of content we produce is hi-quality. Then when an opportunity arises, we let the content speak for itself.
3. You’ll Never Know if You Never Try
This one’s all about taking calculated risks. You’ve gotta balance belief in yourself and your business with some good timing. The past three years have been full of moments where we took steps forward because we bet on ourselves. (right, Caroline Hall)
Lessons learned on the football field were never really about football. It’s always been bigger than that 🦅

Took a minute to reflect on young B.Scar’s college days and offer up some words of wisdom to the college guys who are currently in the trenches. Regular season is just around the corner... Focus and finish! 🦅

🌟 Technique Tuesday: Fist Formation 🌟
This week on Technique Tuesday, we're focusing on the fundamental yet crucial technique of Fist Formation. Proper fist formation is essential for effective striking and preventing injury. Watch our video to learn the correct way to form a fist and improve your martial arts techniques!
Start with an Open Hand: Extend your fingers and keep your hand relaxed.
Fold the Fingers: Curl your fingers tightly into your palm, starting with the little finger and ending with the index finger.
Thumb Position: Place your thumb across the first two fingers, ensuring it rests on top and not tucked inside the fingers.
Tighten the Fist: Squeeze your fingers and thumb tightly together to create a solid and compact fist.
Alignment: Make sure your wrist is straight to maintain alignment and avoid injury.
Practising proper fist formation will enhance your striking power and ensure your techniques are safe and effective. Remember, a strong foundation starts with the basics!

Elizabeth City State University Sport Management would like to thank alumnus Malone Silver for speaking to our program yesterday. Malone is the Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Compliance at Jackson State University. Malone spoke to the students about the importance of owning your name, and how hard it is to get into the field, but you only need one person to say "yes" to change your life. He shared tips on professional dress, communication, and how to network properly. It should be transformational and transactional.

A good article this morning around the impact of English academies.
Some interesting points to note:
- Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club Academy staff all on the same page around youth player development pathways; ensuring clarity & transparency in the player development process.
- Premier League clubs are investing £5-30m a year to run an academy. A staggering amount compared to what is available to LOI Academy and US youth soccer operations.
- The use of retrospective player development data output to better inform the pathway decisions/choices for youth players.

Absolutely 1st class in how you can support a player through school, sport and life. Using transferable skills learned in the academy to build a brand and business for life after academy football and then using that life experience already to support younger players. Gary WarrenRoss County Football Club more than just a football club, character development. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
🦌 We sat down with our Academy Manager Gary Warren and former Academy player Fergus Adams to discuss Fergus' new business and how important the pathway after leaving academy football is.
Should Lee Carsley and his England scouts cover non-league football instead of Category 3 academies? 👇 👇
In March, there were more players selected for England U20 and U21 who spent time in the non-leagues / grassroots between the ages of 15-18 than players who were at Cat 3 academies during the same period.
Players like Martial Godo (Margate) Alex Scott (Guernsey), Ronnie Edwards (Barnet), Sam Tickle (Pilkington), and Jaden Philogene (Pro-Direct Academy) developed outside the Cat 1-3 system but quickly established themselves as the best in the country within their age groups.
The numbers don't lie: more players with non-league experience have earned call-ups to our national youth squads than all the scholars from Cat 3 academies combined...
What's the takeaway? This isn't merely about a few overlooked players slipping through the net. It begs the question: Is there a systematic problem here, or, are the non-leagues a gold mine of emerging talent?
