The two main routes to become an Accountant or Tax advisor is through an Apprenticeship or going to university. Both routes take you to the same goal and requires commitment from you, it is just a different process of steps you need to go through in order to achieve your end goal.🏆 If you choose the apprenticeship route, it will take roughly 4 to 5 years and you build in work experience within your academic experience. If you decide that going to university to achieve a degree is the route for you, the degree will take you 3 years to complete plus an additional 2 to 4 years to qualify by joining the apprenticeship route after your degree. I don’t have a degree, and I’m frequently asked if that has impacted my career. 👨💼 The short answer is NO! In my career I’ve only had one instance over 5 years ago, where I was not invited to interview because I didn’t have a degree. I blame the Head of Audit for being old-fashioned. However, a degree does help in some circumstances. For those of you who want to work abroad, I’d recommend having a degree from a top university. Apprenticeships are commonplace in the UK, but that’s not the case elsewhere in the world! Many employers abroad will require you to have a degree 👨🎓 and that too from a top university. 🏫 It’s not something I agree with, but that’s just the way it is! #degree #degreeapprenticeships #workingabroad
