New short video: "Influences on Contemporary Art" https://lnkd.in/gGJM6A5s This is an informal look at how much space galleries and museums give to different kinds of modern and postmodern art, compared with how much time the movements get in art history classrooms, compared with what occupies young (beginning) art students. The second half is an exercise that I've found very useful in classes, in which students each draw their own timelines, connecting their art to their favorite artists (often Instagram artists, anime, video, film) and from there back to "canonical" movements in modernism. It's all very unscientific and speculative. Hope you enjoy it! The whole series is here: https://lnkd.in/gGVBTiUp
